Maybe you need to reprogram the computer and needs the special code from dealer.

SOURCE: 04 pontiac grand prix wont start.

first remove the battery and take it to a auto parts place and have them check it. move on from there. if the battery is good the do a starter draw test. take a meter and hook it to your battery. now have someone try and start the car. if the voltage on the battery drops from 12.8 to below 9 volts then the starter is bad. if the voltage doesnt drop much at all then its prolly the solenoid both of which require starter replacement since most solenoids are on starters. if still nothing then check ignition switch. but before anything else ensure vehicle is in park. if it is in part use a meter to test neutral safety switch.

I BELIEVE THAT THE MEMORY IN THE CAR'S COMPUTER IS LOST. IF YOU CAN GET IT TO THE DEALER OR A CERTIFIED GM SHOP THEY WILL HAVE TO "FLASH THE DRIVE" ON THE P.C.M.(POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE). I HOPE THIS HELPS. LET ME KNOW PLEASE.THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

It sounds as if you still have a problem with the anti theft system. Possible loose switch wiring in the dash or it was programmed and cycled incorrectly.

04 grand prix

remove the spark plug wite off the plugs 1 at a time replacing right after testing each so as not to cross wire after one is off test it to see if its getting fire through the wire there is a light bulb like item that can be bought for testing wires at your local parts store if its not getting fire check your coil packs using the same tester and the wire adapter if those arent working there is a pick-up coil that the coil packs are mounted to its a small metal plate least on my car anyways most of the time those go bad and people thing the worst they are easy to change and fairly priced mine costed $38.00 at advanced auto

My 1996 pontiac grand prix will not start. The engine will turn over but it wont fire

May have to get a code reader for this one..... Bad coil, open wire on crank shaft sensor, fuel pump, are among possible problems..... Try a bit of starting fluid, not much of too often mind you!
