Question about HP PSC 2210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My 2210 all-in-one printer has a contiuing clicking noise after powering it on, and it will not copy, print, or scan. It will not work at all. I have been through all of the trouble shooting protocols and nothing helped. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything to no avail. So, I am thinking that there must be a mechanical problem, but I do not know how to disassemble the printer in order to check it out. Can anyone please explain and hopefully illustrate how to disassemble the printer for me? This would be greatly appreciated. When I power the printer on it makes a continual clicking noise like it is hung and all the lights flash and it finally stops and says on the read out scanning failure, power off and It does the same thing ever time. I have went through all the troubleshooting and downloading and it started this when upgraded Internet Explorer however I have downloaded the things HP suggest.

The printer sounds like it is hung when the scanner starts it hangs and stops scanning, it does not sound like anything loose inside the printer.

I just posted by problem with the hp psc 2110 all in one printer(two minutes ago) and it is the exact same problem you have...sometimes I get the clicking noise, as if a gear is stripped, and the three lights blink. I have also gone all thru the suggestions in the book, on line, and called 1 800 999 4747. "James" told me it was out of warranty so he could give me no more info. I was advised by a local printer repairman there are too many models with HP and he would charge $45. to "look at the printer" but probably would be cheaper to buy a new printer. The moving message says over and over, remove and replace cartridge, which I have done over and over.

I have the same problem with my HP All in one. I have dissassembled the printer and found nothing jamed or broken. But the stepping motor which move the scanning lamp continues to run after lamp carriage reaches its rest position. I dont know of there is a prox switch (I can't find one) that has failed of if the stepping motor is supposed to sense the pressure when the carriage hits the stop in it's at rest position. If anyone knows what is supposed to stop this motor from running let me know so I can fix this printer.

In the meantime I think I'll try replacing the stepping motor.

If there is a clicking noise that should not be it sounds like there is something loose in it.

There appear to be two possible reasons for this clicking noise - one is in the scanner head reset, and the other in the print carriage. Thare are several solutions for the first if you search the web, and they require removval of the scanner glass and cleaning. The second seems to be often connected with a broken spade-like latch on the right of the carriage which gets pushed forward by the printing mechanism when it reaches the right hand end of its reset. I have mended one on mine and the printer now prints, but I have not yet solved the loud clicking which comes from somewhere near the latch.

Hp psc 2210 all in one printer

You can't load the software that came with the printer.

HP has a Vista page for your printer. Here is a link: PSC2210 Using Vista

Basically, you need to uninstall the software AND delete the printer from your computer. Disconnect your USB cable. Power up your printer. Connect the USB cable.

The above link gives some workarounds for scanning and importing images.

Trying to scan a picture

if your using the "scan" button on the panel of the computer it wont work, in order for the button to work you need to install the software.

if your trying to scan from the pc and you cant scan, try these:
1. right click on the solution center icon on your desktop
2. go to properties
3. click on open file location
4. search for hpscnvw.exe
5. right click on that application then send to desktop
6. now when it is on your desktop, use and click on that icon everytime you want to scan
