If you expect to repair this, expect to spend weeks waiting for parts if you can get them at all, at least an hour to do the work and expect to spend 2/3 the price of a new one for the parts.

My advice, my friend, save the collection can, discard the shredder. On your new shredder, dont over feed it.

Thanks

My shredder has the sound like it is working, but it is not shredding.

From your description, it sounds like when you insert the paper the motor turns on, but the paper is not pulled into the shredder, indicating the two shredder cylinders are not turning. The most likely cause of this is a stripped (missing teeth) main nylon gear. These can be replaced but require some effort.

Shred care paper shredder model# tq81b . stripped gear inside shredder, where can i find?

Hi,
Many people come here looking for parts for their shredders...
The bottom line is that there are no parts available for most shredders, unless they are high end commercial shredders. They are made to be disposable....

Sorry but parts are not available...

OM99732 shreader Motor operates but won't take in any paper. Motor is quieter than normal

Hi,

When motor is running, look to see if the cutters are turning. The cutters can be seen by looking into the throat of the shredder. If the cutters aren't moving, the gears may have been stripped and shredder needs to be repaired or replaced.

Good luck.

If the motor runs but the cutting teeth dont turn then you have stripped or broken a gear in the drive train. You can get replacement parts from Royal at 1-800-524-0799.

The shredder jammed (too much paper) then stopped and won't shred. It makes a noise, but when I insert paper, it won't shred. Is there a reset button? I picked paper out of the blades with a pair of...

Chances are, the overfeed caused the teeth of the gear that operates off of the motor to break.
This is very common in less expensive machines. I don't know if OM will let you return it because I don't know there policy. Most of the time retailers will attribute broken gears to abuse, which in turn is not warranted. These machines are mainly mass produced in China and obviously are very cheap. The labor and part (s) to repair are more expensive than replacing the machine.
If you do, look for a higher quality German machine i.e. Intimus, Olympia, HSM or Dahle. They cost more but they have a nationwide service arena and parts are always available.

Apparently this shredder keeps going until the bin is so full you can't open it easily. That is the problem we had with ours. After unplugging the unit, I pulled the bin back and forth using the front recessed handle until I could squeeze my hand in there. I wasn't too forceful fearing I would break the front door....and this took several minutes to accomplish. I grabbed as much paper as I could....espically the compacted mass in the top section. Eventually I was able to fully open the door and clean out the bin. Hope that helps.
