Is this APCO-25 capable, the APCO-25 is the digital

No. The PRO-97 can receive both standard and trunked analog signals, but it is not digital capable. Also, there are no add-on boards or circuit modifications that can enable digital operation.

How can i get my pro 164 to pick up digital broadcast frequencies

Sorry, but your PRO-164 is an analog-only scanner. There's nothing you can do to or with it to receive and listen to digital transmissions. If digital systems are in use in your area you'll need a digital (APCO-25) equipped scanner to listen in to them.

I have a uniden bearcat scanner and cant pick up my local police dept. I put the frequency in and still dont hear anything. I have a bc145xl 16 channel scanning radio and want to know if its compatible...

If you programmed the correct frequency, you should be getting reception. Check www.RadioReference.com to verify the frequency. Otherwise, you may be too far from the transmitter to receive signals. Try your scanner in other locations, check your antenna, and try receiving the PD on another scanner.

The MARCS - Ohio Multi-Agency Radio Communications system - is a Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink Trunking system that utilizes APCO-25 digital transmissions. Your BC145XL is not compatible with trunking or digital systems. In order to follow the MARCS you will need one of the following scanners:
GRE PSR-500, PSR-600
Radio Shack PRO-106, PRO-197, PRO-96, PRO-2096
Uniden BC250D, BC785D, BC296D, BC796D, BCD396T, BCD396T, BCD996T, BCD996XT, or the brand new HomePatrol-1

Is the pro 2055 digital ?

The PRO-2055 is a versatile conventional/trunking scanner, but it does not have the capability to monitor APCO-25 digital transmissions. For an operating manual that is "Easier To Read" than the factory operating instructions, follow this link:

How do i program my scanner

Your scanner is capable of receiving conventional, trunked, and digital (APCO-25) signals. As such, programming options are detailed and much too involved to be presented here. I suggest that you review the operating manual for your scanner (which can be downloaded/printed by following the link below), visit www.RadioReference.com for a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, and consider joining a users group for the PRO-96. You can find groups on RadioReference, Yahoo, etc.

Can the pro-94 receive digital signals

Unfortunately, no. The PRO-94 can monitor conventional or trunked analog systems, but it cannot process digital signals. To do that you'll need a scanner that specifies DIGITAL, APCO, APCO-25, or P25.

Need the manual for your PRO-94? You can download/print it here:

Some frequncies come in with tone not voice ,lower channels come in but higher one started this morning

find out if what you are listening to has gone to digital... in particular apco 25. if so you'll need at the minimum a scanner that will work on apco 25. look at the specs on a pro-96 to see what you will need.

Radio Shack PRO-96 What mode do I use for scanning==866.600 to 868.450 range and 44.82 to 155.175. The choices are== AM Mode (AM) FM/Digital (FM) CTCSS Mode (CT) DCS Mode (Dc) Motorola/APCO-25 Trunking...

You more than likely want the FM mode. If you are listening to a trunked agency then you will have to know if they are on the MOT, or EDACS system and choose the correct one.

Just wondering???

LA probably uses a trunked system or APCO 25, you can find out more at www.radioreference.com go to the data base and click on california, then click on the county and it should tell you the frequencies and which systems they use.
