Question about Sharp AR-M162 All-In-One Laser Printer

No communication between computer and printer/scanner.

Computer builder has had no success with drivers for 64bit XP (although one is listed.) First Dealer indicates they defer to local dealer. Local dealer has operated system by remote to load driver and try to provide function with no success. Mfgr. indicates not their job. IT has indicated unit will not operate with 64 bit computer. (This has been a tag game for some weeks.) I do not believe that the printer/ scanner can operate at this point. At end of rope now and ready to give up. How do I get a refund?

try going into the control panel and add the printer again as the new os may not recognize it
normally unless you set it again the os has a microsoft printer as default unless you reset it to your printer

The scanner and fax drivers don't install from the downloaded driver package


Using the device manger, identify the scanner and fax devices. Right click on them to open, and then under the driver tab have the computer update the driver using windows search. It should locate the proper drivers for you and update them.

If this is not successful, Google search your manufacturer make and model and the words win 8.1 drivers. You can find them in the search results for downloading and installation.

Although I can print, my Canon MP 530 is not recognized by my computer runnig Windoes XP in its scan mode. I removed and re-installed the driver but the problem continues. Any ideas on how to fix this...


The most frequent reasons for this problem is a lack of bi-directional communication between the all-in-one and the computer. (I will assume you installed the drivers/software in the correct order - before attaching the USB cable between the computer and the all-in-one.)

Try a new cable and plugging into a different USB port on the computer. If you are using a print server or USB hub, connect directly to the computer.

Printer works, scanner/copy does not


The problem could be because of ONE out of TWO problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

Can't connect Xp laptop to 64Bit Vista PC to be able to print across wireless network


yes easy to fix, just share your print driver give it a share name like canonmp780 on the pc it is connected to
then get on your laptop asuming its on your wireless network and in the start bar run this command. \\ your computer name one printer is connected to \ canonmp780.
so if your computer name is windows and your printer name is canonmp780 the run command will be: \\windows\canonmp780 hope this helps and really easiest way to connect to it.

I have had an HP Scanjet 3300c scanner & have just gotten a new HP laptop that has Vista. I can't get the scanner to work. Help!


Windows  VISTA  is not listed for you model prnter. See HP note below:
"If your operating system is not listed, HP does not currently have software or driver downloads available for your product for that operating system"
Drivers are small pieces of software that allow the computer to communicate with the hardware. In this case , your printer. Unless HP decides to write a new VISTA driver for your model,which is unlikely,you wil not be able to use this printer with your new  Computer.  One possible option is to downgrade to WIndows Xp.  Sorry for the bad news.

Computer will not communicate with printer


Go out to Lexmark web site and look for a vista update in their software download section. So this should solve your problem.Most of the cds which come with equipment do not contain vista software and drivers.

All in One Scanner/Printer problems


Go to this link and type "cannot communicate with scanner" in the search box. Click Search. Then select the "ERROR: Cannot communicate with scanner" link. You will see several things to try to correct your problem. Usually, this error shows up if there is another USB device connected which prevents the computer from "seeing" the scanner, even though it can print without problem. So do try to disconnect any other USB device (except mouse or keyboard) and reboot the system.

Scanner & fax wont work


Hi,
This issue could be occurring due to number of reasons, it could be due to the corrupt All in one software or it could be due to the scanner hardware as well, since you have confirmed that the printer prints fine you are absolutely right that the communication between the printer and the computer is good, however to know where the problem lies and to fix the issue disconnect the printer form the computer and try to make a copy form the printer itself, if the printer is able to make a copy then the printer scanner device is working absolutely fine, however if the printer scanner is unable to make a copy check if there is any error message displayed on the printer LCD, if you find any error please keep me posted so that I can send you the resolution for the relevant error, alternately you can download and install the firmware form the Dell’s support site to fix the issue, here is the link form which you can download and install the firmware: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R98804&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A962&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=7348&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=40&fileid=128061
Please make sure that you do not turn off the computer or the printer while the firmware is being downloaded or installed.
After the firmware is downloaded and installed then restart the printer and the computer.
Check if the issue is resolved, if the issue still persists then you will have to replace the printer as there is nothing much that can be done to fix the issue as the scanner hardware is failed.
If the printer is able to make a copy form the printer then try these steps:
Download and install the updated driver for the Dell’s support site, however before you download and reinstall the drivers uninstall the previous version of the driver before you install the latest version, here is how you can uninstall the previous driver.
  1. Insert the Disk labeled Dell All in one center disk in the CD ROM.
  2. Click Next and select Uninstall form the list.
  3. Click on continue to uninstall the software.
  4. After the All in one software is uninstalled disconnect the printer form the computer and the restart the system.
  5. Download the latest driver form the Dell’s support site and then install it.

2.Click OK or Continue.
The Self-Extracting Driver Installation window appears and prompts to
extract files to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R92834.
3.Leave all of the default settings and click Unzip or OK. If the
directory doesn't exist, you'll be prompted to create one. Click Yes. A
Self Extractor window appears and indicates C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R92834 files were
extracted.
4.Click OK.
Follow the on-screen installation instructions in the window.
