Question about Computers & Internet

I have an LG 60" Plasma TV Model Number RU-60PZ61 that will not power on or even go into standby mode. It has no lights on at all. Tested electrical outlet ok, made sure all connections were tight and seated. TV was subjected to temperatures approaching freezing recently due to ice storm in this area that had power out for three weeks.

That is probably a faulty power board.

That is probably a faulty power board, the unit must be disassembled, and tested by a technician.

If you have electronic repair experience you can test the capacitors on the power board, those are the components that fail most commonly.

There was no fuse on that TV, just resistors on power board.

The fuse is inside, very carefull inside there. Is it covered by warranty? if you got warranty use it.

If you don't have warranty start by checking the fuse on the powersupply.

My LG Plasma 60" 60PG60 TV refuse to turn on. Red button light comes on but the blue light flashes and turns off. No picture, no sound. Please Help.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Hi, i have an LG plasma, model number RT-42PX11.

You need to pull the power supply out and replace the damaged caps on the board. Look for swollen, pushed up tops and leakage around the base of the caps.

You need soldering and basic electronics skills. You also need to pull apart that big tv and pull the power supply board!

You can look on Ebay for pullout boards from people who have broken their screens. It can get you a working board for cheap sometimes!

Good luck and be careful!

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1Theinternal circuits are jammed because of electrostaticcharges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage readby the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started theprotection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrongvoltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in, starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

On LCD Payparticular attention at inverter and power board, power board can beinspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with amultimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need toread voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.
