Question about NetGear WGR826V Router (wgr826vna)

1 Answer

Connected but...not I'm not quite sure how to say this. My wired internet usually works fine, but sometimes when I try to connect wirelessly, my computer tells me that my security information may be entered incorrectly. When I check my information, it's the same information I used to connect every time. I'll cut the power on both the modem and the router and when I turn it back on, it'll connect just fine (sometimes). What could be wrong?

Check the IP address on the Vista wireless network connection. Make sure that there is not static IP address on the wireless connection. That could be one of the reason.

Slowed internet connection using wireless router...

Normal!

Wired connections are faster than equivalently wireless connections (from/to the same node) and so your
experienced is quite normal.

Additional nodes divide the original bandwidth and denigrate the performance, which is why one tries to
maximize the original bandwidth (speed in MHz) of the connection to the gateway.

You can maximize your experience by having critical systems wired to the router, and this also provides
greater security than any encryption (which is another brake on your speed) necessary for a wifi
connection.

Make sure you have the fastest possible wifi card in your portable devices to maximize your speed.

I have a WCG200 linksys but can not go onto internet.

from what i have read, your router is broadcasting a signal, and your modem has an open and active internet gateway.

pls make sure that the connection from the modem to the router are correct. the modem should be connected in the port with the label internet. you may have to reset your modem AFTER you have connected the wireless router to allow the router to be assigned an ip. now with the wireless router and broadband modem connected, you can connect to the network and access the internet. pls repost if you hit any snags
GOOD LUCK and PLS rate this post.

No internet signal from router

To isolate the concern, it would be better to test the non working computer to the modem. If it works, that means there is a problem with the router and if it isn't then it is a problem with the pc..

If the computer works fine on the modem, you can try the following to check if the router works fine:

1. The modem should be connected to the router's WAN/Internet port.
2. The computers should be hard wired to the router's numbered port
3. On the router's setup page, go to the Status tab and check if the Internet IP address and the DNS are populated. If not, that means the router is not functioning correctly.
4. Go to the wireless tab and make sure that the SSID is customized. Make sure that the wireless computer is connecting to the said SSID.

If those had been checked and it still does not work, you can try updating the firmware of the router, reset and reconfigure it.

However, if the computer does not work on the modem. You may need to have it checked.

Unable to actually connect to the internet?

Have you tried restarting your router? If not, try unplugging the ac power from the router, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. That will usually take care of this problem. If that doesn't work, you can try going into "manage your wireless connections", delete your wireless network from the list, then reconnect to your network.
