Maybe I'm posting to the wrong section? I just realized this is for universal remote units. Mine came with the fan.

It's not the batteries in the remote. The light showing on the controller tells you that the remote is communicating with the controller. I would bet your controller has a problem. Here are a few things to check.

First, try this as it doesn't cost any money!
Disconnect the power to the controller. Wait a minute and reconnect power. Does this fix it?

If not, then my first thought is the relay on the reciever. It may be going bad (suggesting why it works sometimes and sometimes not). If it's a bad relay in the controller, simply order a replacement.

You can also check the controller to make sure your dip switches are in the correct position. Your dip switch controls the signal input. (in the case of multiple fans, you wouldn't want them all coming on at the same time). Make sure your dips are set to match your remote. This just takes trial and error if you don't have the manual. (I believe there are 16 permutations for the dips.)

Sight unseen, it's probably a relay going out on the controller, or some other part. Either way, best bet is to replace the controller.

Thanks for coming to FixYa.

Reprogram the Remote or after you see the red color you should hit back tv, in order the green color to come back, if you cannot you have to reprogram it with the tv code. if all this not working it seems the remote control falled down so the connection inside becomes lose.So you have to change it.

Best Regards

If you take the fan down and remove the guard exposing the guts (wires) you can rewire the unit to bypass the remote sensor unit. Replace the switch on the wall with a ceiling fandimmer switch. This way speed can still be controlled. If the fan has lights you will have to wire them in with the fan, so they both come on when you hit the switch.

If a light stay on in your remote could be some key stays pressed or there is a false contact inside your remote.
Good Luck!!!

Please tell me the model no. of your fan and/or remote.

You need to check the dip switches(IC's inside the remote and also inside the fan assembly near the either on top of the motor, or inside the switch housing or ceiling canopy. T

hese switches "tune" the remote and fan (received) to the same "station" and therefore must be set to the same setting. If a fan is not responding to the remote you can check to make sure that the switches are set to the same setting in both locations, and try a different setting. The fan and remote should have same settings, 16 settings are possible---

    0000
    0001
    0010
    0100
    0110
    0101
    0011
    0111
    1111
    1110
    1101
    1011
    1001
    1010
    1100
    1000

The problem can also happen if some other wireless device is interfering with the fan (causing it to turn on and off seemingly at random) such as a garage door opener or cordless phone, you can try a different setting on the dip switches.

    Please ask for clarifications.

    Thanks

    Rylee

Hello. What you will find is that there is a battery in the ceiling box [where the wires are connected] as well as in the remote control. My bet is that the battery in the ceiling box also needs to be changed. Hampton Bay products all come from the home depot. Go there if you need instructions, they should provide them to you.
