Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

When scanning several pages of a document some pages scan fine, some you'll hear a draggin noise and there are smudge lines thru the document (putting thru feeder). Other times when you place 1 copy to be scan on glass it does the same thing. Meaning it's not the feeder. What do you think?

Scanning duplex I get a line down the righthand side of all alternate pages?

With very limited information, I suspect if you observe closely on the side that has the line printing you will find a dark smudge on the glass. If this is found you should be able to use a little rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth an remove the smudge.

My officejet pro 8500A prints black vertical lines down the page when I make a copy. I have cleaned and aligned the printheads. What else can I do?

Happened with me too. Turned out to be a small sticky smudge on the ADF glass. That is the smaller glass scan area to the left of the large glass scanning area.
When using the ADF to scan or copy, make sure the smaller glass area is clean along with the rollers.

If I scan A4 dokument with SmartThru4, everything goes well as usual, but in the end I get only blank white page, so it scans document, but cannot show the image of scanned A4 . Also if I copy A4 text...

For the system to work completely; you need the printer driver, scan driver and smarthru4.

Once you install the scan driver (available on Samsung website); the issue will go away.

Also, another trick; instead of using the smart thru - which is kind of awkward, download Picasa 3 and if you have installed the scan driver correctly, you can use Picasa to import the scans by controlling the printer. It also allows for some other tweaks that are not so easy to get to in Smart Thru.

In addition to Picasa you can use several other graphic applications to scan the image.

Good luck.

Blank line down left side of outgoing fax or feeder copy

The most common cause of blank (void) lines on a scanned document is from whiteout on the glass where the page is scanned when using the document feeder.
If there is a clear mylar sheet on the bottom of the document feeder, the whiteout may be there instead.

If there was dirt or a dark smudge on the glass (or mylar), it would show up as a black line, but whiteout is white, and shows up as a void (blank) line.

Xerox WorkCentre 4150, 3 vertical white lines in all feeder scans

the problem is in the scanner, open it up and see if you can find any smudges, and clean any obstruction, any ink, liquid eraser residuals, can cause this part to appear as lines on your copied faxed image.
dont concentrate on the printer this is a scanner problem

Scan views fine; prints fuzzy

Try to change the dpi to the maximum, maybe 600 dpi. This will make the picture more defined.

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.
