Index sensor output does not
change by the execution of
APC. Index sensor cannot
detect the laser because the
polygon mirror does not rotate,
or because of the index sensor
out of position or defective index sensor
Basically the (Black print head/LASER UNIT/Write Unit) for Black drum is causing problems internally. Inside the unit the Index sensor output does not change by the execution of APC. Index sensor cannot detect the laser because the polygon mirror does not rotate, or because of the index sensor out of position or defective index sensor. Or one of the many control boards is causing issues with Black Laser Unit, such as:
Printer control board (PRCB)
Image processing board
I/F board (IFB)
Image memory control board
Serious Cost for these boards, recommend a Konica Minolta Tech check this out. Sorry
Polygon error. There is a LASER inside the machine which hits a 5 sided minor spinning at about 35000 rpm. That minor is spun my the polygon motor. More then likely you have a bad print head. That is what the entire assy. LASER/motor/Minor/Sensors are called. Power off/then on if it comes back have a technician looks at it.
You have a bad printhead unit(laser unit) . The polygon mirror is not rotating within a specific amount of time. I recommend you to replace your fax unless your willing to spend between 200 to 500 dollars.
L6 is a problem in the laser sistem. The polygon motor doesn't work. It is reparable if you can get it out of the machine to open it and lubricate it. If it doesn't get ok it can be changed, just the motor and the small printing board. GOOD LUCK.
Unplug the unit. Hold down the menu key while plugging back in / powering up. When finished initializing, hit 99. Wait to status comes back and hit 91.
This supposedly happens due to a power surge or outage. If this doesn't work for you try reversing the numbers above. I have a bad memory, it might be 91 first then 99 but, you definately have to hold down the menu key.
I am assuming that you error listed above is actually a "Machine Error 71" not a 17 as their is no such 17 error. The error 71 is a problem with the Polygon Mirror (laser scanner). The scanner is going to require replacement. The part is available at Seattle Platen, Dale 1-800-221-2388.
