40h83 tried that but cant find resistors values, I think they are
    brown/grey/red/gold=1.5
    brown/green/brown/gold=147
    orange/white/brown/gold=390
    grey/red/silver/gold=?
    brown/red/gold/gold=182
It looks like when cable first came out how you had to move the cable wire to get the best picture, jumpy and kind of wavey

Should check the resistors that go along with these ics. could be that there is one bad or out of spec

I think the 1.5 are the ones but you should check the others to just to make sure they are ok. There is another board that could be cousing this also it is called the hyper module. This board is very expensive. It has surface mount capastiors on it that go bad comon problem. The last I knowed you could send it two PTS for repair I think that was the name of it i dont have there catlog here at home with me or i would give you there 800 number can get it tomarow and post it for you. The hyper module is in a silver case right behind where the RCA jacks are.

i dont have my color code chart or code book in front of me at this time but when you have a resistor marked like gray /red silver gold it is going to be low in value. I dont know kow they make resistors do it but whenyou got silver and gold as the last two bands it seems to divide anyway the gray is eather 5 or 6 and the red is 2 with a silver stripe then it should read eather 5.2 or 6.2 ohms on a meater. The last stripe or band that is the gold would be how much it can go above or below the given value. So if you had a resistor that was to be 10 ohms in value with a gold band it could check to be 11or even 9 ohms and still be with in spec. You could look this up on the computer and get a better understanding of what im trying to explane to you. In some cases you will need to take one end of the resister out of the board to get the right reading of its value. If you take two 10 ohms resisters end to end or in a stright line and hook the two wires that are touching eachother then put your test leds one on one end of the and the orther one on the orther end it should read 20 ohms.If you put them side be side and tie the two togather then it should read 5 ohms funny but that is how it works.

Tv out of foucs

These procedures are from the owners manual, go into menu and then picture quality and then: Convergence The Convergence feature lets you adjust the TV’s three tubes. When the TV tubes’ images are precisely aligned, they create the color images you see on the screen. Over time, the picture can drift out of alignment (this is normal). If your picture seems fuzzy or has a yellow tint, using Convergence could correct this misalignment. Only one convergence is needed for all inputs, regardless of the signal format. Note: Make sure the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes (TV needs to warm up for best results) before starting Auto Converge or Red/Blue Centering. When you select the Convergence feature, a submenu appears with three options: Auto Converge Automatically aligns the projection lenses to self-correct color images. You’ll see flashing squares of color dance across the screen (this is normal). Note: After performing auto convergence, use the Blue Centering and Red Centering menus to fine tune convergence in the center of the screen, if necessary. Blue Centering Aligns the blue and green images to fine-tune the picture. Red Centering Aligns the red and green images to fine-tune the picture. Note: The ability to change channels is disabled when adjusting the convergence options. The TV must be tuned to a usable signal to converge the picture.

Convergence controls

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Is it my Convergance??

Do not try to align the colors with the remote. One of your convergence IC's has gone bad and needs to be replaced, possible burning one of the 3 low value resistors next to it. If you change the convergence settings now then they will have to be reset when the new IC is installed.
