Pro-96 Scanner Not Receiving Philadelphia Fire Department Radio
I use the Win96 software to program my Pro-96 scanner. I have had good success with programing except for the Philadelphia Fire Department. No matter what I do I can't seem to receive their transmissions. I can get all the trunked traffic from the surrounding communities with no problem. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Re: Pro-96 Scanner Not Receiving Philadelphia Fire...
Well I would check up on their current frequency. They may have changed frequencies overnight. It does happen. Here is a handy website to check out. Look around and hope it helps you. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/

For a comprehensive database of active frequencies (they're not codes) in your area, and a lot of other useful scanning information, visit: www.RadioReference.com
The Philadelphia area has likely moved to trunked radio systems in the 800MHz band, and your scanner is not capable of receiving such signals, so you'll be limited in what you can tune in with your PRO-2033.
Your scanner is capable of receiving conventional, trunked, and digital (APCO-25) signals. As such, programming options are detailed and much too involved to be presented here. I suggest that you review the operating manual for your scanner (which can be downloaded/printed by following the link below), visit www.RadioReference.com for a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, and consider joining a users group for the PRO-96. You can find groups on RadioReference, Yahoo, etc.
No..you do not have to delete that programming. You can download the scanner using Win96 and then add or delete talkgroups and frequency data in Win96. Once this is complete, just upload it back to your scanner.
Word to the wise..you may want to save the results of your scanner download BEFORE modifying it. That way you can reload it if you make any mistakes while updating it.
Did you use a software program or have radio shack program the scanner for you? If so, check to make sure the banks were selected in the software to be enabled. I assume the your scanner shows 0123****** Now to manually select banks, simply press the number for the selected bank to both select and de-select as warrented. When you press 4, bank 4 will now be scanned. Also, should you press 1, bank 1 will not be scanned.
