Question about Hitachi 53FDX01B 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Hi-Def? Is this tv hi-def compatible? We replaced our old DirecTv receiver with an HD one ... and then picture isn't nearly as good as we thought it would be. The front of the tv says "Ultrascan HD" so we were stupid to just assume the tv is HD ready?!!!??? Granted it's 9 yrs old but my hubby thinks he remembers someone at the place he bought it saying something about it being an HD tv (back then it was still very very very new). Anyone???

Yes, it is HD TV ready but you must have a set top box from your cable or dish company that provides a Hi Def signal. The inputs must also be connected with the YRB cable. Only certain channels on my box are HD. The screen is so large that HD isn't nearly as impressive as some of the smaller models but it is still HD. I also have the 53FDX10B.

I Have a RCA Rear Projection SRS Focus Is it High Def ? Or Would it make a differance if i got a HD receiver From Directv ?

Look for the HD logo on the front of the set--if there and a early one it is HD READY which means it needs a box with HD connected to its rear HD input.

I want to know if you have to turn on the HD conponents cause i tried to use my xbox360 and thier is nothing on the screen. i already check the xbox360 wires and they are fine.

If you are using a high def tv and u want to play with hi def graphics, u must put the switch on the xbox av/component leads to HDTV, otherwise, standard def will be used. Check the tv input by using a dvd player or another input source to confirm it works. Good Luck.

No picture - only sound

Ok, on a hi-def tv, you must have a converter box capable of receiving Hi-def. If you are using a converter box from a satalite or cable tv service, try getting a Hi-def box. Also try hooking a vcr or dvd player to the tv in the non high def ports to varify that this is the problem. If you have any question please let me know, I hope this helps, good luck.

Can't receive high def channels.

What kind and model of TV?
More than likely it is not designed to receive the hi def signals and will require a converter box.

When The HDMI cables are connected, I use Directv, I have just recently started to have the picture come on and then start flickering and various color bars pop up on screen, then the screen will go black...

It is possible that the HDMI cable is defective. Did you try another cable?

It is also possible that the HDMI port on the TV is failing.

This can be determined by the process of elimination.

Hd ready?

On any High Def TV, the reciever you need for this set, which does not have a HD receiver in it, is half the equation. Most HD channels have some HD content mixed with SD content on the same channel. SD content on HD signal from cable or satellite tends to be slightly blocky due to the native signal resolution and the resolution of HD (1080i/p or 720i/p).
