Question about HP DeskJet 3940 InkJet Photo Printer

Paper jam My printer says it's jammed and I'm not sure how to check it? All the paper that went through it, came out. I've turned it off and back on as well as shut the computer down.

Some of the Ink Jets have a cover in the back of the printer that you have to turn a lock to remove and you could have some paper stuck back there.

Issue The product stops printing, the power light blinks, and the carriage, which holds the ink cartridges, stalls. A ' Mechanism Error ' message might display on the computer. The product is detecting a paper jam, a paper pick-up problem, or a paper feed problem. Solution Follow these steps to resolve the issue. It might not be necessary to complete all the steps. Step one: Remove any loose paper Remove any loose sheets of paper from the input tray and the output tray. CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. Trying to clear jammed paper from the front of the product can damage the print mechanism. Step two: Clear the jam from the printer

  1. Press the Power button (c01476163.gif ) once. Instead of turning off, the product attempts to eject the jammed paper.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  3. Open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door away from the product. Figure 1: Remove rear access door c01560703.gif
  4. Remove the jammed paper. Make sure no pieces of paper remain inside the product.
  5. If you cannot remove the paper jam from the back, raise the cover, gently remove the paper jam from the front of the product, and then lower the cover. CAUTION: Remove the paper jam carefully as it is possible to damage the product when removing paper from the front.
  6. Replace the rear access door.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the product. The product turns on automatically.
Step three: Reload paper
  1. Slide the paper-width guide to its outermost position.
  2. Load paper with the print side down and short edge first into the paper tray. Slide the stack of paper forward until it stops.
  3. Adjust the paper-width guide so that it rests against the stack of paper.
  4. Try printing again. If the carriage does not move, or makes a grinding noise, continue to the next step.
Step four: Make sure the print carriage can move freely
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Remove the paper from the paper tray, and then raise the product cover.
  3. Check for and remove any obstructions along the carriage path.
  4. Gently push the carriage all the way to the right side of the product.
  5. Close the cover and reconnect the power cord. The product will make some noise as it starts again. Wait until it stops making noise.
  6. Open the product cover. The carriage should return to its normal position.
  7. Reload paper and try printing again.
Step five: Service the printer If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. Cause If paper jams occur frequently, try using a heavier paper. The following conditions might cause paper jams:
  • The paper is not correctly loaded in the tray.
  • The paper does not meet the product paper specifications listed in the product user guide.
  • Paper was added to an existing stack in the tray.
  • The paper tray contains more than one type of paper.
  • An obstruction is blocking the paper path.
  • The in tray is too full.

    Solution
    Follow these steps to resolve the issue. It might not be necessary to complete all the steps.

    CAUTION:
    Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. Trying to clear jammed paper from the front of the product can damage the print mechanism.

Jammed paper


You might need to update your drivers. If this doesn't help, there might be some loose gear inside the feeder . Try checking if there are also objects stuck.

Please help with cannon PIXMA MP150 printer problem, when trying to print, It reads that paper is jammed but I've checked several times and no paper is jammed. Printer will not print due to this...

Paper jam means their may be small bit paper jam in side
, actually there are some "micro sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper inside those sensors, thus tripping the sensor and paper jammed keeps coming up.
To solve this first of all Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder
, If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon Printers service provider.

My Lexmark 4600 printer has a paper jam. do not know how to unjam it.

How to clear and avoid paper jams
Follow these instructions to remove and/or avoid paper jams and misfeeds in your Lexmark X3500, X4500, X4600 & X4800 Series All-In-One.
Paper jam in the printer
Remove the paper manually

  1. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn off the printer.

  2. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it out.

  3. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn the printer back on.

NOTE: Check inside the printer to ensure that all the paper is removed. Any small pieces of paper left in the printer will continue to cause paper jams.
Paper jam in the paper support


    1. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn off the printer.

    2. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it out.

    3. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn the printer back on.

Paper or specialty media misfeeds
These are possible solutions if paper or specialty media misfeeds or skews, or if multiple sheets feed or stick together.
Try one or more of the following:
Check paper condition

  • Use only new, unwrinkled paper.

Check paper loading

  • Load a smaller amount of paper into the printer.

  • Load paper with the print side facing you. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side, see the instructions that came with the paper.)

Remove each page as it is printed

  • Remove each page as it exits, and let it dry completely before stacking.

Adjust the paper guides

  • When using media less than 8.5 inches wide

  • To rest against the edges of the paper or media, making sure it does not buckle

Printer does not feed paper, envelopes, or specialty media
These are possible solutions. Try one or more of the following:
Check for paper jams

  • Check for and clear any paper jams. For more information, see "Paper jam in the printer" and "Paper jam in the paper support" above.

Check media loading

  • Verify that the specialty media is loaded correctly.

  • Try loading one page, envelope, or sheet of specialty media at a time.

Check printer default and pause settings

  1. Click:

Banner paper jams
There are many possible solutions. Try one or more of the following:
Clear banner paper jams

  1. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn off the printer.

  2. Remove the jammed banner paper from the printer.

Review banner printing checklist

  • Use only the number of sheets needed for the banner.

  • Select the following settings to enable the printer to feed paper continuously without jamming:



    1. With a document open, click File pattlnk_10282008_1829-right-arrow.gif Print.

    2. Click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup.

    3. Select the Paper Setup tab.

    4. From the Paper Size area, select Banner.

    5. Select Letter Banner or A4 Banner as the paper size.

    6. Select Portrait or Landscape.

    7. Click OK.

    8. Click OK or Print.

Our printer is not picking up the paper from the tray and is saying it is jammed. There is not jam.


Hi there !

Is your printer had jammed before and it stop printing in the middle of printing? For some reasons, paper can jammed due to printing interruptions, printer turn off, improper loading or feeding of paper, roller feeder had problem and others.

If jams before and paper have let inside the printer, please do the following first:

1. Check th paper tray, see inside if the paper is jammed inside that compartment. If there is paper jammed, remove, turn off your printer and turn on. This will solve your problem.

2. If not, open the printer cartridge door, remove the toner cartridge and look for paper jammed inside. If these is paper inside, remove it, turn off the printer and turn it on.

3. If you cannot see the paper jammed inside, the paper maybe inside the heating area. To remove paper, just turn off your printer and turn it on to roll over the paper jammed inside of it.

4. If the printer is blinking and saying there is paper jammed. You have to check the cartridge toner by opening the cartridge door, remove the cartridge and return it back but be sure it is well firmly fitted.

If following the 4 diagnostic procedure and you cannot locate the jammed paper, the problem lies on the toner cartridge itself. When toner cartridge is not rolling over, it will stop feeding the paper and it will cause printer to jammed.

To diagnose the problem, put old printer cartridge and if no toner power, just shake it well and I am sure there is still small amount of powder inside it and if it prints, the toner cartridge you purchase is defective. Reason, factory defect or improper refilling and part is not working well.

Stylus CX9400 Photo Printer: paper jammed inside printer...


If paper is jammed, a Paper jam message will appear on the control panel display.

Follow these steps to clear the jam:

  1. Gently pull any jammed paper out of the output tray or sheet feeder.

  2. If the paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus CX.

  3. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus CX back on.

    alert_note.gif Note: Be sure to check the far left of the carriage area when checking for jammed paper. Paper that is jammed there may be hidden from view.
If paper jams inside the Automatic Document Feeder, clear the jam as follows:

  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover and remove any jammed paper.

  2. If necessary, lift the document cover and remove any paper that has jammed inside.

How can i remove the paper inside the printer


For the paper jam issue turn around the printer and open the back door to pull the paper.
and for the power issue unplug power cord from wall and from the printer side too,plug everything back and ready to work.

Paper jam went try to sent a fax


Step1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.

Turn off the printer.

Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper. 
Step

Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge. 
Step

If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it. 
Step

If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly (see A). The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.

7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.

Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on. 
Step
9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.

My dell 1700n Laser Printer Paper Jam Light stays on


The sensor is stuck open or closed. It needs to move back and forth between the sensor. Check the paper path for the sensors.
