I installed Delta shower faucet 132900 and I could not shut the water. What did I do wrong?

I'm sorry but I didn't give you the whole story.

When I finished installing the faucet, it worked ok. Then I had to shut off the feed valves because there was a small pipe leak in the back. I fixed the leak and I put the water back up. To my surprise I could not stop the water in the shower.

I shut the valves to the shower. I took the front of the faucet apart: the plastic cover to control the water in the shower, the hot and cold control. I did not remove the cartridge.I only took the front apart. I put everything back together and turned the water feed valves on. To my surprise I was able to shut the shower water off. Everything was ok.

What the devil happened. I didn't do anything different and I fixed the problem. Can you explain that? If you can you're a genious. I called Delta and they could not give me a response. I'm just afraid that if I shut off the hot/cold feed valves again I'll experience the same scenario.

Thank you very much in advance.

Did you solder the valve in? If so you may have got it to hot. Or debris could have gotten in the valve. Turn the water off, remove the handle and cartridge. Check cartridge for damage or debris

It probably just had a small piece of debris in it that washed out when you took the pressure off of the cartridge.

There should be a dirverter on the tub spout. It will be either a knob to pull up or a ring to pull down on and hold untill the water comes out the shower head.

If there is no dirverter go buy a new tub spout with one.. The prior owners may have installed the wrong spout.

not all that familiar with your particular faucet. but in my experience, most plumbers dont put grease on the valves when installing them . the factory just uses enough grease to get the valve in the faucet. if you have extremely hot water and use it . it wont take to long for it to cause this problem.. just an opinion. i cant imagine how the buildings shutoff could have anything to do with your problem.

Delta single lever faucet leakingafter bing shut off.

Will need to get delta faucet rebuild kit. Available at home depot, lowes or hardware store. It consists of valve stem seals & springs. The larger kit will contain ball assembly. Turn off water to faucet. Unscrew handle via set screw under plastic cap. Unthread cap over ball assembly. Pry out valve seals & springs. Reverse procedure to install.

How do you switch out the single lever dial on a delta shower fau

Hidden under the lever is a little hex screw. Use an appropriate hex a.k.a. "Allen" wrench to remove the handle. You might want to shut down the water service first to save your shower until later.

Hope you have the water shut off to the shower first! The collar you are referring to, does it look like a tuning fork? If so, it pulls upward from a little lip. Good luck

My delta 132900 gets too hot.

With these Faucets, you can remove the handle and make adjustments to the max Hot water setting (scald guard).

You may also have a faulty or lime-covered cartridge.
