Question about Acer Aspire 3610 Notebook

1 Answer

When I put on a dvd, it starts off Ok but slows down. At the same time, the sound quality becomes very distorted. This also happens on playing something from the hard drive.

I've not added any programmes to those already loaded when I bought the laptop.

There is only Windows Media Player and Cascade as the means to play (apologies but I'm a technophobe when it comes to this sort of thing)

No, only what (if anything) was on the machine when I bought it

I'll get back to you. Thanx for your help.

This sounds like a codecs issue or a conflict with one of the applications running in the memory. Does this also happen with other media players such as winamp or cyberlink? that is if you have these software

no appologies required. Do you have an updated antivirus on ?

Ok, what i would suggest is you download this file called combofix from the link below. This is a good software to remove viruses and trajans and also fixes issues with the registry for windows. You might want to restart your pc if it doesn;t do it for you once it is completed.

Please let me know if this works or not. Visruses can be nasty and should be taken care of immediatly

My subwoofer sound is distorted

whatever player are you using must be having Equalizer in it...try adjusting that [keep that down to a minimum]. Check the program for your audio device...some programs have sound options like jazz, rock, pop these are predefined equalizer changing these could also help. Try using a different media player like VLC [it's free to download on the web] Try uninstalling the audio driver and then reinstalling the driver. It is quite possible that your speaker doesn't match with the Laptop's amplifier or the speaker is gone kaput [a coil problem or something needs repair...but do not repair rather buy a good speaker coz repairing loses the quality].

While Playing the DVD

You probably need to clean out the pc. Get rid of programs that are not needed or used. Do a "Disk Cleanup", Defrag until it takes only about 1-2 min to complete. Get an Anti-spyware/malware as well as an Anti-spyware program and run it once a week. You might want to also invest in more RAM. 512mb these days isnt much.

There may have been a Windows update that corruptdated one of your Windows Media Player files. Check for spyware or a virus. WMP is usually an avenue for thay sort of thing. Check for updats to all software involved. You may also consider doing a firmware update if they have one. Good Luck, Tim
