I am trying to add a HP Officejet printer to my home network viia a switch so that the desktop does not have to be turned on all the time, please help with instructions

Yes your hp office jet 6110 works on chrome book by following the below methods:
Method 1: Check system requirements
• Chrome book connected to the network with an active Internet connection.
• Create Google account in the latest version of chrome browser.
• The printer hardware is set up and connected Chrome book with a USB cable or wireless network.
• USB connection: Make sure the cable is securely connected to the printer and to a working USB port on your Chrome book or computer.
• Wireless network connection: On the printer, make sure the wireless signal is turned on and the printer is connected to your network. Make sure the printer is connected to the same network the Chrome book or computer connects to.
Method 2: Install HP Print for Chrome
1. Open the Chrome browser, and then go to the HP Print for Chrome
2. Click ADD TO CHROME.


A confirmation message displays. Adding the HP Print for Chrome app
3. In the Add "HP Print for Chrome" window, click Add app to confirm the new app.

is ther firmware update to it go to www.hp.com suport area download latest drivers ok save to hardrive then remove old ones then install new ones from add remove in control panel ok after new driver hold power in unplug it then plug back in hold that power for 10 sec manaual reset also in the settings

on the computer that you want to scan from click start > control panel > printers then click add and choose network printer. it will then scan for the printer and add it . you will then be able to scan files to it, once it has installed the drivers and configured your pc.

Try connecting your printer directly to the wifi router/switch in a shared network configuration. Then go to your router settings, find the local ip address add this as the 'host'. Your settings should be as follows:


Driver : HP Mobile Printing
Bearer: Socket/HP Jetdirect
Access Piont: My Home Wifi (kaba)
Host : ip address of you printer
user : Blank ( tried my windows username,no use)
port : 9100
Printer Model: Officejet Printers

You will have to reconfigure your drivers on your pc as well. Mine installed as a wireless shared printer even though the printer is not wireless but I have it connected to my wifi switch for sharing and it worked fine.

one fool proof way to print is to use the usb cable and plug directly from the computer to the printer.

Check your drivers at Driver Detective
If your computer does not recognize the printer, try going into your printers in the control panel and go to add printer and see if it finds it.

The printer needs to be installed by you as "Adiministrator". When installing the printer you need to hold down the "Alt" button when clicking n Add Printer function. It will then give an option of installing as Administrator.

Are you connecting via usb or ethernet cable?
Through usb you need to install the driver on the pc it is connected to. Then share it.

Through ethernet make sure your CAT5/Ethernet cable is connected from your printer to your router/switch. Through the menu on the printer Print the network setup.

Then from your web browser type
http://ip address of printer from the network setup page

If you can then you need to add the printer driver on your pc and use a tcp/ip port to print to it through the network.
