Power off and on ater every use

"HP laserjet 3330 makes loud rachet sound and then tells me to power off and on" I can then use it one time and I have to power off and on again. I cannot find my manual to determie what to do to find a fix. Any suggestions?

My Laserjet 3330 makes the same "racheting" sound, and I used to be able to solve it by powering on and off, but now the problem is constant, and I can no longer print, copy or scan. I re-downloaded the driver software from the HP site, which fixed it for a day (unless it did nothing, and the apparent fix was only a coincidence), but now it is back to working not at all. Is it indeed a terminal scanner problem?

Take the small piece of glass off the scanner and use a hacksaw blade or wire or something like it to push the scanner bar as far back as you can. cycling the printer many times can sometimes get the scanner bar into the right position and then it will work normal.

You have a bad scanner. It will cost as much as a new machine to replace it.

Scanner Error - Power On Power Off

Hello,

The "scanner warming up" error is usually caused by dirty glass or mirrors in the scanner assembly. Here is a link to a step by step guide that tells how to open the scanner unit and clean the optics to clear the error.

Interesting question.
Checking the service manual it appears that there is a power switch only on the 220v printer!!!
I guess you have to pull the plug.

Firmware error. Unplug the power cord. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it in, power it on. If the error comes back, you will have to upgrade the firmware.

The scanner is either worn out or just dirty. If you can remove the top glass you can gently wipe the mirrors and lenses with a Q-tip and clean the white strip on the underside of the glass. If that doesn't help the lamp is just worn out not putting out enough light. Parts are not available for that so it could be time for a new machine.
