The machine gets hot while embroidering and freezes. sometimes it keeps sewing in the same place, the next it freezes up and i have to shut the machine off and on for it to work. it is less then three years old with minimal usage. also a few days ago the screen went completely blank and then turned itself back on.

I am having the same problem. Mine is just shutting off in the middle of either embroidering or just regular sewing. I have a call into my service center, but havent found anything out yet. Was wondering if you had? I did read on their site that there is a recall on the power supply, and must be replaced, and I dont know if mine has been replaced or not.

There are 3 main fixes for a freezing SE.
1> Have the latest 12501 update installed, the 12124 had a problem.
2> make sure you have the right hook (the 2 older hooks have this problem.
3> The newer tension assembly with the grounding strap needs to be in the SE as well.
4> there were only suppose to be 3 but if your screen gets weird when it freezes, it could be the video transformer

How to clean and maintain a Husqvarna Viking SE embroidery unit? It seems mine is starting to be louder than before as it embroiders. Does it need grease or oil?

I don't have this machine, but mechanical items with moving parts need to be oiled. I would check in your users manual. It should give you a schematic on the places to oil. Use sewing machine oil so it doesn't get all gummy and cause more problems.

I have a Viking designer ruby machine. I am trying to embroider a name. I have the right hoop and the design fits the hoop and I keep getting an error message.

Sometimes machines will not work because even though the hoop appears large enough, there is not enough leeway for the presser foot to maneuver inside the hoop. This is a common issue with embroidery machines. The probably answer is to either shrink the design or use a larger hoop.

This is usually a bad transformer. If the machine is less than 5 yrs. old it is covered under the mfg. warranty. You need to take it to an authorized dealer.

Viking designer SE sewing and embroider machine -- Thread that has come out of the take-up lever

If this problem persists there is an upgrade on the take up lever that has a plastic clip that holds the thread in better. Check with your dealer.

How do I find out the embroidery time on my Viking Designer 1 sewing machine?

Hi there, If your trying to find out how long it took you to embroider something, You need to go to your touch screen menu- touch Set- then down at the bottom left of this screen and touch More- three (3) times you'll get to where it says Running time:(It's the 3rd Selection) There it will actually show you the total running time (Sewing and Embroidery If you haven't zeroed it out by hitting the zero (0) next to that selection.) You can do this on the touch screen with the embroidery unit on or off. You need to touch the zero (0) to zero out your time before you start an embroidery project. Once you've done this and you've finished an embroidery you can check how long it took by the touch screen menu- Set- touch More 3 times and there you will see how long on the Running time it took to embroider your design. I hope that helped. The total time your machine has ran (Embroidery and Sewing) is kept in Memory on the Service Screen that your Technician gets into when he services your machine. So your not actually wiping out that. The Set menu is just for you to keep track of how long your machine sews or embroiders something pretty much. I hope that helped you out with your question. Happy Sewing!! Kathy

I have a Designer SE that is getting hot when I embroider and then it thread nests and freezes up. I've emailed Viking and they only told me to bring my machine in for service. I had a very bad experience...

Taking it in for service is your only real option. If you have a bad tech in your area, you might consider mailing your machine to a better one. It's getting hot because of either a bad or dry bearing or too tight of a timing belt, most likely. It could be a few other reasons but either way the machine is loading up and the motor is drawing too much power throught the circuit board and locking up the machine. I doubt your thread jamming is caused by the same thing but it is possible.
