Accelerator handle slips back

I have an Evinrude 9.9 two cycle, 1996 that I use on my sailboat.
The when I turn the handle to accelerate, if I let go it slips back to a lower speed; it just doesn't stay where I leave it.
I bought a manual to fix, but found nothing in the whole manual!

Hi, It is a safety device. These small motors are equipped with a spring to return the motor to idle speed when you let go. You can ( and I am not advising you to do this) remove the spring so that the handle stays put when you let go. This should Fixya!

1996 Toyota Camry, manual transmission. Car is bucking when accelerating, esp. Between 2nd and 3rd gear.

start by first checking your cars motor and tranny mounts sounds like the transmission is moving back and fourth as you accelerate and shift gears maybe due to a broken mount or more than one, hope that helps try there first. I've recently noticed that my 1996 v6 vs commodore has a high pitch squeal while accelerating and there seems to be no power behind it anymore either.

I would suggest that you check all units being driven by the belt as the squeal is from something not turning freely and making the belt slip on the crankshaft pulley or slip over what is seizing up.

if it slips out of 5th on accelation ,chances are the phos bronze ring that guides it into mesh needs replacement, there is no point in just taking the thing apart and repairing same unless you can diy.can you not check out yellow pages for a gearbox reconditioner.....maybe cheaper.or you could hold the gearstick while you are accelerating???maybe not...

Whenever I turn left and accelerate quickly, the transmission seems to "slip". It does not do that when I accelerate and turn right. Any ideas?

Have you checked the fluid level. It will do this when it's low. The fluid runs away from the filter pick-up.

Your trouble is most likely not in the transfer case but in the front differential engagement solenoid.
