Printing can be a rather tricky process. If your planning on printing a document, press 'File' then 'Print Preview'. Once your happy press 'File' again, then press 'Print'. Connect it to your printer. Before printing, check that you have paper and ink.
Basic things to try: -you could start by clicking on devices and printers button on MS start sphere - click on your installed printer right click on "see whats printing and see if any documents are queued in printer - cancel them if there are.
have you checked your ink levels - have you checked ink cartridges are okay (genuine) cartridges if you have just changed them. Is there plastic strips on ink cartridges if new?
have you checked all connections to make sure all peripherals are connected okay.
Have you tried restarting your computer. Have you checked nothing is jammed either in paper tray or inside printer. Is there an error message on the printer console?
sorry this is not a complete solution but you might try these things first.......
The Scan functions on Printers/Multi-Function devices are independent of printing. Regardless of the status of your ink, you should be able to scan documents to your computer. You can only print it to other printer by saving it to your flash drive of course.
Based on the information you shared:
Did the printer run out of Ink or Paper? What is the error you get when printing. Was it printing before?
If not then you need to install the printer drivers prior to printing.
I had many simular issues with my laptop, then it shut off one day and wouldn't come bacl on, after digging through tons of support forums on HP's support page I found that a know bios issue exists for this model laptop. As long as its still running down load the latest bios and flash the laptop. Let me know if this helps
Kodak has just come out with a fairly low cost printer/scanner combo that has low cost ink. The printer sells for $149 and ink tends to run about $15 per cartridge. You can also get any number of low cost ink jets from HP. There are re-manufactured HP cartridges that are low priced as well if you really need to keep costs down. Also, check www.frys.com. They have a Canon printer/scanner on sale for $29.99, plus shipping. Almost worht tossing the printer when the ink goes out.
