Question about Kodak EasyShare DX4530 Digital Camera

Kodak easyshare dx4530 turns on then off

The batteries are good. i had a 256 memory card in it that i started using in another camera. i erased the contents from the other camera and put back into the kodak easyshare. i don't know if it's related to the problem but now I turn on the camera, green light flashes and i get the 'set date' screen. if i hit cancel the camera turns off without retracting the lens. if i set the date the camera turns off when i hit OK again without retracting the lens. i reformatted the memory card but the same stuff happens.

I have the same problem that was posted before. I turn my camera on, it asks if I want to set the time/cancel. I press cancel and the camera just shuts off. I can review pictures but I cant take footage/pics.

Hi there.

90 percent of the time when the lens malfunctions, it's due to grit or dirt in the lens mechanism. If you stored your camera in a camera bag, while you used the other camera, that could be your problem. Camera bags are great for holding dirt so it can get in your camera.
When the lens can't move, it may cause the camera to shut down. To fix this, use an air compressor. Put the nozzle to the camera and blow air into the space between the camera and the lens. Blow it out real good and try it again. You may have to repeat the process a couple of times. Hope this helps.

Check to see if it has a clock battery. If so, replace it. However, the problem may be one of two things.1. Low battery. this takes AAs, make sure they are alkaline, mercury, or rechargeables and are fresh.2. Some cameras develop this problem when the surface mounted CAPs [capacitors] start to leak. The only real option then is a new camera. Replacing these would be more costly than a new camera. And since it seems to be an older camera [5mp and no longer available.] maybe it's time to upgrade anyway. FYI, I recommend Canon cameras for best price/quality balance. But that's just me.

I hope you understand that formatting the memory card completely erases it so you won't "see all my pictures again".

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My Kodak EasyShare DX4530 is not formatting. I got a new memory card for it and it isnt formatting to it, it trys to but just keeps doing the same thing over and over, "memory card needs...

Maybe it is having trouble with the size of the memory. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards.

If your using more than 2GB of SD card or if yous using the SDHC card it will not format the Memory card.

Try to used the recommended Memory card 2GB or 1GB SD card It will reformat your card. Too Much or too High SD card is not compatible on DX camera series
