I downloaded the latest driver for the Oki 14ex printer then add printer it seems to install ok - however I am unable to print - gives a message that the hardware driver did not install properly. Does that mean it is not compatable with xp

disconnect the LPT cable, and try a usb cable, the wierd printing should stop while the cable is disconnected. I'll be willing to bet there is something trying to print or poll the printer from the computer. that is causing the random characters. check to see that there are no other printers configured g to print/connect to same LPT1 port, from an old printer installation. (thus switching to the USB cable). Be also sure to download the latest drivers for your operating system for the OKI, from OKI's website

Add a device) Check for connected devices. You can also go to (Start >
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Add Printer > Local) check the
USB1, 2, 3 options is available for using an existing port. The options are
LPT1, 2, 3 (Printer Port)
| COM1, 2, 3, 4 (Serial Port)
| FILE (Print to File) | TPVM (Thin Print) | XPSPort. Select the appropriate

Yes, well I can´t help you to solve that problem and in fact i´m hoping that you´ve already solven it, cuz right now i got the same problem with my c3450... It worked just fine under vista x64 but now on windows 7 x64 i have the same problem as you have/had! Cheers
Print the Menu Setting out on printer and menu setting out on pc. Match sure emulation matcheds on both sides. If using serial make sure serial settings match on both sides. If parallel, check the bois on the PC, change parallel port type to EPP instead of ECP or SPP.
