Modern furnaces have more than 1 sensor. And it depends on how it is installed on some models. Can you be specific as to why you need to know this?

    Can you clarify please?

Most furnaces have what is called "rollover" thermistors, in case the exchanger or the flue becomes plugged and the flame rolls over (or out) of the flamebox. The thermistor is designed to open thus cut off power to the gas valve which shuts off gas flow so you don't have a fire.

Most furnaces themselves do not sense heat, they only generate it until a control tells them to stop - the control is the thermostat.

Thermostats are usually located remotely to the furnace... so I need to know which you speak of?

Heat sensor....Or a flame sensor. Flame sensor is connected to a "single" wire under the buners usually found on the left side. Heat sensors (or flame rollout switches) are found surrounding the burner box. The most common bad one will be located just above the burners. it "should" have a small reset button in the middle just between the two wires. If the furnace does light even for a short time the rollout switch is not bad.

My goodman GMVC95 furnace circuit board is flashing On 6 I replaced the flame sensor but it's still flashing. Does it have to be manually reset?

Alright, have you checked the low voltage fuse on the circuit board in the blower compartment? Make sure you check the roll out switches as well. If all of these issue appear to be fine then you may have a bad circuit board. There has been a bad batch of circuit boards going around many of the popular furnace brands this winter. Trane Gas Furnaces and Goodman Gas Furnaces have been effected. We sell both brands and have had to replace many circuit boards on new furnaces. What's your problem? goodman furnace lights, burns 10 secs goes out

Hello, sounds like you have a dirty flame sensor. This is a metal rod on the oppositenside of the hot surface ignitor. turn off power to the furnace and remove the flame sensor, then use steel wool and clean the flame sensor and reinstall. Next turn back power to Furnace.

Goodman Model C16-28 1FF is not able to heat my basement. The burners igniting but only fire for approximately 5 seconds. This cycle continues about every 60 seconds. At times the burners only stay on for...

Sounds as though your issue lies within the flame sensor.

The flame sensor senses that there is flame present once there is a call for heat. It sends its signal back the board or ICM and the furnace operates as normal. If no signal is sent, then the furnace automatically shuts down as a safety procedure. The furnace will attempt to light several times before shutting down on a fault code or lockout.

The number 1 reason for flame sensors to fail is they are dirty. Check the sensor for dirt build-up. Clean the sensor with a damp rag or a scratch pad. Inspect the grommets for crackings. Also check and clean all grounds. If this doesn't work, you will need to replace the sensor or call for a service technician to ensure the sensor is the only issue at hand.

Goodman furnace

you should not need the owners manual. most likely you will find a chart listing the diagnostic codes on the inside of the door to the blower compartment. diagnostics are printed next to the wiring schematic. the most common problem on this style furnace is just a dirty flame sensor. a small piece of fine grit sandpaper and a 1/4" nutdriver is needed. the sensor is located in front of the burner on either the far left or right. be carefull....(do not remove the hot surface ignitor that has two wires). you want the part that has only one wire connected to the sensor under the buner. pull it out and sand the dirt off of the metal rod. reinstall and enjoy your heat
