Question about HP vp6320 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

HP vp6320 still flashing red "lightbulb" light with new lamp

The recommendation in the HP manual for troubleshooting this issue (red flashing lightbulb) is to replace the lamp, which I did. However, when I power up the projector with the new lamp, I still get the flashing lightbulb. Advice on how to fix the issue myself is desirable (i.e. don't want to put much more $$ into it).

Try removing the lamp and refitting it back in place.

Try first removing the lamp and refitting it back in place.
On many models there is a procedure listed on the owner manual that must be done to reset the lamp counter.
Also the problem sometimes is the lamp temperature sensor not detecting that lamp is warm enough. In that case follow indications here to troubleshoot.

Color problem

This can be caued by the color wheel cracked. There are four sections of glass that were glued together to form the color wheel. Sometimes the lamp over temperated and can crack the color wheel. I have new ones in stock and this is not recommended for home user to replace. I can fix it for you.

Output light dimming and brightening

This is caused by a faile color wheel sensor. This is like a strobe signal and the projector controls the lamp with this signal. When the sensor failed, you get random noise and the lamp control circuitary is going crazy. This is a known problem with the VP63XX series of projectors. I am factory trained and I can fix the problem for you. If you are very good with electronics, I can sell you the repair parts plus instruction.

Hp projector

This is caused by the color wheel sensor failure. The sensor is mounted very near the lamp and suffered extreme temperature. This problem can be corrected by installing the redesigned color wheel sensor. You also need to refocus the sensor due to different focal length. HP also recommended to replace the temp sensor cable. If you still have the projector, I can fix the problem for you.

My projector won't come on.

I answered this question many times. This is caused by a failed color wheel sensor. It faile gradually, first the lamp flickers, sometimes go dim for no good reason. Finally the lamp will not strike and you will get two red warning lights. I am factory trained and I stock the redesigned senor.
