If it would be the on/off switch, you can try some WD-40, its clean the contact inside the switch, just spray the switch two or three times & work it, if the problem in the switch, this will help, some have fuse in the back side of them some where.

Good luck

Omnitech 14 sheet shredder is jammed and won't take paper less than year old tried to call omnitech support and get no answer just recording that they are closed any ideas

Unplug it, open it up and clear the jam, reassemble and give it a try, and try not to shred too many pages at once and make sure that you empty the lower part so it doesn't pick up already shredded material and jam up again.

Wont turn on

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

My Staples Shredder, model # SPL-S302D will stop shredding in the middle of a job or immediately after starting to shred. It is a strip-cut style shredder, I use lubricating sheets once in a while on it,...

You can clean the sensor with a alcohol and be sure there is no jam occur. If it doing fine then it's work and there's no more problem. Always clean it, a jam can cause motor to heat up and it's winding will be burnt.
I hope my advice help you.

Try soaking the clogs with hot soapy water overnight.

Soap disolves paper.

My shredder was does not turn on!

Less than a year old, you can take it to a service center. May be a blown fuse. Try to get the top off and check the fuse. If you are not using it, unplug it.

I have an achiever heavy-duty crosscut shredder that I purchased in 2002. Since that time I have actually used the shredder around 5 times. The shredder turns on, shred for about 2-3 mins., then it stops....

does it finish the sheet of paper then shut off , or does it stop halfway thru the paper?

unplug the unit , open it up and see if theres staples or junk jammed in the cutting wheels/gears

there supose to turn off once its finished with the paper and turn back on when the next paper is inserted , theres a lil sensor that turns it on and a limit switch that turns it off

Shredder runs continuosly

unplug the shredder and get aflash light look into the cutting slot.
there is micro switch in the slot.
must likely the switch is stucked, and not flipping back out.
try to use something thin clean off some of the glue (yes glue!) on and around the switch.
make sure the switch is free to move.

I have a similar problem. I took the shredder head and gear box apart and found two stripped gears. True, the gears are plastic unfortunately (which is why they stripped.)

The gears are simple to get at and to replace. Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of gears for this unit (there are 3)?

If so, could you, please, email me w/ that information? (pterocarpous@yahoo.com).
I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.
