Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Does not start when we press the start button. The light goes on inside when we open the door, so we know we didn't trip a circuit. Is there a fuse inside the dryer we need to replace?

Why doesThe light does not go on when the left door opens and neither do any of the settings light up?

bad switch. or the wire has come off the switch. You have an open circuit. this means electricity is not flowing all through the circuit. it could be a switch, a bulb or a fuse. Start with the easy stuff. find the switch and push it in an out. many new refrigerators will shut off the fan if the door is open. if the fan goes off check the light bulb.

I have a 3 year old GE Profile microwave that began tripping the breaker recently. We would just reset the breaker and all would be fine for a day or two and then it began happening more and more...

If it tripped the breaker with you only hitting the door switch it sounds like the door switch has a direct short. This means a hot wire is going to ground not good. But the first part of your problem sounded like the circuit was overloaded for the breaker or right at the limit of the breaker.(probably a 15 amp breaker) Breakers do get old and if you are working at there limit they will trip and more often over time. What else is on this circuit? Make sure you are not overloading your line. Take each appliance or light and take the wattage listed on it and devide it by the voltage this equals your amps then add all the amps up they should not be more that your breaker and usually only 80% of your breaker the 20% is for devices with motors or compressors that spike amps temporarily. good luck and be careful

Kenmore 90 series, 7 years old, no problems til now. all of a sudden, 3rd load of laundry of the day, press start button, nothing happens. There's power to the unit as the light goes on when the door...

That doesn't mean there's power to all parts of the dryer though. My Kenmore used to run but not heat & invariably a wire was burned through at the end - they get brittle after a while. I'd unplug the dryer - very important - open the back & look for a wiring problem. I could usually shorten the broken wire & make a good connection again. After years of patching it up we gave up we got a new dryer.

The circuit breaker trips when I open the refrigirator even when the ref switch is off

There must be a short in the internal lighting circuit which have one functional component, the switch. It is usually a white push-button inside the refrigerator near the door. The door pushes the switch when it is closed turning the light off. When the door is opened, the button pops back out to turn on the light. In your case, when you open the door you are switching on the light but the circuit breaker trips off. It means the short circuit is in the light wiring and nothing else. Retrace the wiring and you'll surely find it there. Rewire and have a good day.

No power to refrigerator lighting

I would start with the light sweitch. As far as I know there is no fuse for the light. But the switch may be stuck. Sticky stuff from spills are a common problem causing the door switch to stick and make it hold in just like when the door is closed.Look around the frame for a button and try pulling the button out (I know you have changed the bulb, right?).

If its pulling in and out at the plunger remove power and then the panel or piece of plastic holding the switch jump both sides of the switch together and see if the light works then if so you need a new switch. Oh some switches may also have another set of contacts that shut off the inside fan motor when the door opens if so it will have 3 or 4 wires not just 2. and you will have to try (if you don't have a diagram showing colors or terminals) jumping separately. FYI the light is always on terminals marked C and NC, the inside fan is always on C and NO. These designation C NO NC are usually always on the switch body.

If this helps you please give me as high a rating as you can. If it did not help you please restate your problem so I can respond in another way with better communication. Thnak you and good luck.

Kenmore HD gas dryer won't heat up

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

No water, no ice, no light

No fuses sorry (I wish there were). Read the owners manual and see if you can run without a filter, some models auto bypass with the filter removed. Soooo.. for water you need the main solenoid valve to work, the water dispenor solenoid valve to work, the lines open & not kinked, etc., and the door switches to make contact, etc. If you can take the line apart right under the left side (near the floor) that goes up inside the door (should be a quick connect fitting there) try disconnecting it and press the water dispensor again. If ya get water there, you know the issue is in the door tubing. If you get nothing, can you hear the solenoid clicking when you press the lever? If no solenoid noise the fountain control board may be bad (or stuck in lock mode...). Let us know what you find and we'll go from there.

Ice Maker Making Noise

The motor for the auger drive runs pretty slow (about 18 rpm), it could be the drive is running continuously (unless the door is open). Check that and let me know some more info, is the noise real loud, soft, etc. Can you feel anything vibrating or running when the door switch is pressed in?
