Server = Dell Poweredge 2970 Windows 2003 R2 SP2 HBA's = Qlogic QLE2460. Presented to it are HP EVA4400 LUN's, StorageTek SL500 Tape Drives and HP ESL Tape drives. The configuration is one I have used many times without problem, except that is for the PE2970 server. Previously used PE1950's and HP DL380 G4's. All drivers are the latest available and the server has had all MS updates applied. On to the problem: Everything looks fine in terms of being able to see all I should. Until that is I install MPIO and then wallop!. One fabric, losses sight of half the tape drives from the ESL. In addition, within SANSurfer I see that the WWN's are mixed up. i.e., what it thinks is a tape robot is really a disk, and what it thinks is a disk is really a tape drive, and the remaining are simply ''Devices''. All gone to pot!. If I simply uninstall MPIO then the config looks as it should, apart from the fact that I can now see too many disk drives. Obviously, because now I have no multipath software installed. It is possible for me to make it all work correctly, with MPIO installed by simply unplugging the fibres from the offending HBA and reattaching, or even making a minor switch port change. It's not permanent though, if the server gets rebooted, the problem is back, so it's not a realistic solution. I should also note, that I have swapped out SFP's, fibre cables and even the HBA. I have also tried different switch ports and even a different switch. I have also rezoned everything numerous times, and tried a new server chassis. Tried logging a call with QLogic, but they say the HBA is a badged version from Dell, so they won't help. Logged a call with Dell who tried but failed to help. Said I've done just about everything they can think of. Now logged a call with HP, but given their recent track record, I don't hold out much hope there either. Any suggestions or assistance you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading. Tony
