Is there a 2" blade available for the DeWalt Biscuit Joiner

Because of standardized sizes of biscuits, the only blade you can and should use, is the same size that comes with the tool. Anything smaller will not create the right diameter groove for the biscuits to fit properly.

I have an old craftsman joiner (4 1/2'') actual measurement.

Try going onto craftsman tools website and looking up the jointer by model number. there should be a blowup and parts list, maybe a price list also. if the bearings aren't listed you can probably take it apart and find replacements at Grainger, or MSC or motion machine.chibasset

I have a Makita 3901 plate joiner...what is the set plate used for?

It's used for cutting slots in thin workpieces, Look at page 6 of the manual linked here (it's a large manual, be patient while it downloads).

When you set the router at 45 degrees to cut a corner joint slot it raises the router 5/32 of an inch further to the inside corner so the slot doesn't break out of the thin material on the outside or face of the workpiece.

The picture on page 6 is worth a thousand words!
