Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

Open Question

My Luxor game freezes up.

I just bought a laptop and a new Luxor game. I installed the game and it worked great for a few weeks and then it started freezing up after playing the first screen. My luxor also freezes up after several minutes. Has anyone been able to contact the company for a downloadable fix?

Yes, I have the same problem - The screen freezes up after the first round of play - so disappointing.

I have the same problem with Luxor. Sometimes it freezes right up and other times it lets me get further into the game before freezing up. If anyone out there has a solution it would be greatly appreciated.

It may not be a compatibility issue. If the game starts at all then it should work in XP no problem. What is the condition of the disc, is it really scratched? Try to clean it and use a scratch repair kit to eliminate some scratches. You could bring it in to Blockbuster, they will resurface it for about $5.

SOURCE: I BOUGHT A GAME CALLED

I would suspect that your PC does not meet the minimum requirements for the game. Do you know what type of graphics card you have in your computer?

It can sometimes help to upgrade your video drivers. If you get me the model number of your computer I can provice a link to the drivers. What version of Windows are you using?

Most likely your GPU has a broken solder point on the mother board.

Is this for windows or for mac?

If it's for windows, go to your C:\program files folder and find the installed folder for Luxor. Then look for the .exe that runs the program (usually has a unique icon). Right click on that and click on create shortcut. Then move the shortcut where you want it :)

Need patch for Luxor game to keep from crashing

If you purchased the RETAIL CD of Luxor: Quest For The Afterlife and are having issues, please see the link below to download an update.
http://forum.mumbojumbo.com/downloads/LuxorUpdate.exe
Once downloaded, install the update over your exising installation of Luxor: Quest For The Afterlife. This will remove all previous saved data to ensure that it does not conflict with the installation of the update. Once installed, start your game normally and when prompted, create a new user profile and resume gaming!

HP pav dv9000, display crashes while gaming.

Sounds like hardware damage. Unless you have a warranty to honor, it may be cost effective to replace the laptop. Repairs to a laptop by the manufacturer will cost you nearly the price of a new one.

Brand new fable2 freezes on brand new xbox360 pro

Since your Xbox is brand new, you can just install Fable 2 to the hard disk of your xbox 360. I didn't have this problem with Fable 2 - but that's maybe because I installed it to the HD from the start. Fallout 3 did freeze on me, but installing it to the HD fixed the issue. Don't get any ideas though, you still need to insert the disk if you want to play ;-)

This is how you do it:

  1. Load the disk into your Xbox 360 console and go to your Xbox 360 console
  2. Scroll down to My Xbox
  3. Scroll across to Game Library and hit the A button
  4. This should put you on the Recent Games window and your game should be highlighted, so you should just need to hit the A button. Otherwise, scroll to the Recent Games window and choose the game.
  5. On the game screen, choose Install to Hard Drive. This process should take a few minutes, but once it is complete, you'll be able to enjoy improved performance.
You'll also note that the game screen contains all kinds of great information about the game such as the achievements unlocked and featured downloads available for the game.

When i install age of empires, it installs to 100% and freezes.

Explore the disc, and on AOESETUP.exe, set the compatibility to Windows 95. It should install fully. Now, if only I could get my computer to stop with the BSOD when I exit the game..
