Question about Gaggia Baby Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Frothing spout came off in my hand!

I just got my Gaggia Baby Twin Espresso machine yesterday.  I was cleaning the frothing spout with a sponge and the entire assemblage came off in my hand.  I don't just mean the frothing attachment but the entire metal spout that attaches to the machine.  With it came a plastic pronged piece that seats the spout inside the machine and a small black washer ring. I don't know where the washer fits in the assembly as there are at least two potential locations - one would be at the base of the prongs, the other might be above the metal band that's about 1/2 an inch from the top. Does anyone have any experience with this problem or should I be sending the machine back?

Hi, the steam from the wand is not frothing the milk like it used to, hardly any froth at all.

If the frother is warming the milk, but is not frothing, then you want to make sure the panarello is clean.

Slide the cover off the frother and check the pin hold on the top edge of the cover. If this hole is blocked the milk will not froth. Rinza is great clean to help prevent these issues. http://www.cerinicoffee.com/rinza_urnex.asp

Also recommend frothing water instead of milk to clean the frother well.

Frothing attachment coming off from pressure

Check the holes in the attachment they might be blocked and the pressure of the steam is blowing it off.

Replace the frothing arm

Easiest way, unscrew the silver wand from the brass part. If you are changing the whole assembly, remove the 2 screws in the top panel to gain access to the boiler.

The steam wand is bubbling the milk, not frothing

THere is a little black tube inside - make sure its pushed out enough - about 1/16 an inch from the bottom. And you may have to clean it out. Happens to us too and after I do the above it works

Spout for frothing milk pops out

You can get the user manual on this link if you need it; http://www.gaggiaparos.co.uk/ Check page 6 of the download, page 12 of the manual - the spout should just pull off and push back on. If it wont, then either something needs cleaning more, something is stuck in the tube or more likely the part of the nozzle that comes off, something is broken, or you need to use a little bit more force. If it appears broken, (check in particular for a fine crack that is only visible when the nozzle is stretched i.e. when in place. This type of plastic often will close a crack enough to be near invisible when not under tension.) then you could try gluing it although i doubt if this would work. You could just put a stainless steel hose clamp around it, tighten up just enough to make the nozzle spout stay on (bit of a pain, but may work). You can contact gaggia for a replacement - in the USA; Importika 596 Fishers Station Dr. 14564, Victor, NY Mr. Salzman Ph. 585.742.5178 Fax 585.924.1499 web site: www.importika.com e-mail: sales@importika.com Hope this helps - if you can post back a photo or two close up of the problem area, i may have more ideas :)
