Windows Media Center doesn't always turn on TV tuner card
I am using my Pavilion notebook as a DVR by making use of the TV tuner card provided along with Windows Media Center. Lately, I've had occasions on which the computer starts at the time prescribed by Windows Media Center (I've had I on "hibernate" leading up to this but the TV tuner card doesn't turn on. This doesn't happen all of the time and I haven't been able to detect any commonalities in the times it fails to work. Does anyone know why this is sometimes happening and what I can do about it?

In windows 7 - Windows Media Center will use it (NOT media PLAYER, media CENTER) media center is actually wicked cool for watching TV because if you have cable, no more waiting for the listings channel...it pulls up to 2 weeks of listings from your provider, so you can schedule shows to be recorded, record series etc...very cool!
The problem must be either because of Hardware or software. You are saying that you already tried installing new drivers and softwares for the tuner card and checked, but its bad luck. So it seems the hardware device may be failed. So first ensure the hardware working properly by plugging tuner card into any of your friends system. If it works properly, then it must be surely software problem. We can try installing any other version of device drivers and softwares and make it work.
Hi. Check if you have windows Media Center. If you have, then you might need to configure it to recieve local or cable channels. Just don't forget to connect an antennae or cable and provided that you have a TV Tuner Card. ^_^
I've had the same problem with two other unrelated HP input products in this area myself so I understand the pain. Media Center is not really well geared for nor is very friendly in the end user component input area. I'm assuming you've already tried playing a video file from your camcorder while setting up the Media Center input settings? Try a different software that will recognize your input card. Ideally, you should use any input software that came with the card itself from the manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer for a link to the original software bundle if you can't find it from their website or you may need to research your own replacement software solution for this product.

Reinstall the drivers, just put the driver CD given along with the
card, and autorun. OS will automatically list the available drivers and
select driver for windows xp or vista and give OK. That's all.and make sure that your vista or 7 rc is set to signal area .like australia india
