Question about Bestec ATX-1956F (ATX1956F) 200-Watt Power Supply

ATX Bestec 1956F Power Supply Failure

There are no Leds or Post when connected to Power. The PSU Led starts as a a steady green but witha second goes to a reduced steady green. The fan is not rotating. When the Desktop On button is pushed, the PSU reduced steady green goes out.

Have disconnected all components attached to the PSU and the PSU Led remains a steady green which should indicate that the PSU is working but the fan is still not rotating.

Because the Fan is not working is the PSU faulty?

tks

Sounds like your power supplie has not been switched on by *********** board.the fan will not turn on until power supplie is turned on by mb.as far as what is wrong there are several things i can think of.i would try resetting bios. It sounds like your power supplie is working and your motherboard could have a short.but i have no way to be sure without testing. I can however tell you how to perform a test on your power supplie.unplug the 20 or 24 pin connector from your mb. look for a green wire, and then locate the grey one.short these two together(you can use a paper clip or something).if it dosnt power up. your power supplie is bad.also do not short any other wires, and only touch the grey and green for a few seconds as this is not how it was intended to be powered on.

Hi joey. Power supplies are quite easy to find. Try here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007657%20600013999&IsNodeId=1&name=ATX Anything on that page should work fine for you. Cheers!

Power supply unit gets power as light on the back shows but pc wont turn on. Have tried differnt PSU and pc turned on but have had unit checked and they said the PSU is working fine. Cant fit standard PSU...

Try this to get it at-least back on with your PSU that fits in the case. open up your computer case, locate your power supply. With the AC cord still plugged in , unplugged the connectors to your motherboard from the PSU and wait about 10secs. Then replugged them in. This should power on your PC.
Also, You wanna check around where the PSU connects to the motherboard and make sure there is no damage. No burning,Discoloration anything that could be potential damage.
Hope this works atleast to get the PC booting up.

I have a burned out Bestec ATX-250-12z power supply for a hp pavilion a320n. I need to know if a Dynex® - 400-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply, will work in its place.

yes it should do provided your current psu is not a small mATX one. ATX power supplies are pretty generic. Make sure you get one that has enough connectors to suit your system, having said that, Considering it's an off the shelf PC I would guess most PSU's would have the right number and type of connections.

Power supply or motherboard problem?

Hi talissap,

The blinking light is telling you something about the PSU. First check any AC mains voltage select switches for proper setting. US should be 115. Second if you have a multimeter, you could test the PSU for voltage. Disconnect all power to all components. remove all components from the board including cpu, memory . Leave the PSU only plugged into the board. Press power. If the fan turns on then it's not the power supply. The brand power supply isn't the best, I've seen where you need to wait for 5-20 minutes for the blinking to stop, at which time it will fire up. Now, if it doesn't power up, then it's most likely the PSU.

Good Luck,

Mark

Whats the difference between the atx-1956f & the atx-1956d

I can't see a single difference. At first I thought it was the 3 pin fan controller, but they both have it. The footprint is identical.

I would call and ask them. Maybe the guy that entered the data online got lazy and copied it over :)

The pc wont power up and the green led on the PSU is just flashing, is the bestec atx 250 12z broken?

Most likely yes.

I would also reccomend an upgrade to that PSU when replacing it.

Something in the 450-Watt neighborhood is usually a bit more robust.

Install a temporary power supply to verify condition.

That mean you have bought the wrong PSU.

Return the new one, when you are at the store you purchased it from, ask them for a Micro ATX PSU, that is the kind you need.

The only other thing you will need to know is how many watts you want it to be, a decent one would be 400-550 watts
