Question about Black & Decker DR650B 6.5 Amp 1.2-inch Dual Range Hammerdrill with Storage Bag

2 Answers

I have the black and decker hammer drill model dr650. The drill will not work in the forward position, but will work in the reverse position. The drill has been used twice and is a little over a year old. I checked the trigger switch and it is o.k. any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Same problem. Bought refurb'd. Took the drill apart, everything looked ok. When it first happened, it smelled like something melted. Thought I needed the switch, now not sure if a new brush assembly will fix it. OF course the brushes are a dealer part only.

    Parts here:

Hi, Its not the trigger but the contacts on the forward/reverse lever. Have you taken it apart to look at those contacts?

Same problem, the forward an reverse switch wasn't shifting the brush assembly far enough in the forward position,I tied the brush assembly with a piece of string so as to lock it in place after removing the forward and reversing switch so I could use the drill, don't have reverse but can use the drill again.

Look at the back of the brush holder for a tab that the forward/reverse lever locks into, it might be broken not allowing it to shift.

Hpw do i change from drill to hammer on hilti te 22

The "sleeve" below the chuck slides and twists.
If it is in the forward position it's in drill mode, because the chuck can't hammer, pull it back and it will be in hammer mode.
(the picture shows the black plastic sleeve in the forward position, which can be pulled back over the metal that is still exposed)

The actuator should be on the top of the drill. if your holding the drill it is on top toward the front, moves left and right to change directions.

Describe how to remove drill bit and install a

Most cordless drills use keyless chucks these days. Shift the drill into reverse and hold the main body of the chuck. Pull the trigger and the bit should come out. Put it into forward and run it to tighten onto a new bit.

Can't remove the chuck on a drill.

There are one-way (non-reversible) and two-way (reversible) drills. Mine is one-way. Methods for chuck removal are different for these two types.
Procedure for one-way (non-reversible) drills:
Drills of this type have no chuck screw, so one have to hold the spindle with a wrench, than to sharply strike the wrench with a hammer to spin it off.
Procedure for two-way (reversible) drills:
Open the chuck up and in the bottom is a screw that holds the chuck on the shaft. The screw turns in a clock wise motion to be removed and then you can top the chuck off the shaft.
