Audio CD s fine. DVDs picture only.

I would recommend resetting the Rosen unit. This is done by entering the "Menu" and pressing "Settings". From this screen, you select "Keypad" in the top right corner of the screen and then enter "7-5-2-3" and press "Enter". This should erase any code for Parental Control (levels 0 - 8). Also, the Rosen product states to only use "Store bought media" for CD's and DVD's meaning that it won't play all 'burned' discs. Hope this helps.- Elliot

the laser lens is dirty or damaged...a laser lens cleaner cd might help..if that doesn't solve it then the laser lens is damaged...you can purchase a relativley cheap dvd player that plays divx/mp4 files and (s)vcd video with cd audio and mp3 support. some come with usb ports and some support .jpeg files(pictures) depending on where you live the price varies.

use this tool to remove upper and lower filter.

The problem is with the codec that is require to play sound.You can resolve this by playing your DVD in another player like VLC media player or you will have to install the latest codec pack which supports major Audio and Video formats.

Following are the links to download both the VLC media player and K-Lite mega codec pack-
Download any one of them and install on your system.I am pretty sure this will resolve your problem.

Basic Information:

i) try to choose  right burner for eg: Nero CD/DVD Burner

ii) try to choose the right format,

     for eg: MP3/MP4/ Audio Songs will come under Audio format
               in such case select "Audio CD/DVD format" in Nero CD/DVD Burner


     for eg: .DAT/MPEG/MP4/Video will come under Video format

                in such case select "Video CD/DVD format" in Nero CD/DVD Burner


     for eg: "DATA CD format" is only storing some data on CD/DVD iresspective whether it is                            Videofile or Audio file, 

                these "DATA CD formated" CD/DVD when played in DVD Player will play only Audio files 
                but no Video Files 

   
   

you need to select the disk as audio disk in the burning application, then select tracks and burn it.

In your application program is where the determination of audion verses application is made. Read you manual to determine how to select the proper settiings.

The issue might be that you could be missing some codes to play the dvds.

First i want to uninstall all the codecs from the control panel - add/remove programs.

Then download the latest vesion of klite codec pack with the player.

Install this by selecting "lots of stuff" with the player.

Then play your DVD, it will work fine.
