Amp audio device driver how?

Hello you can download the driver from here:

http://support.gateway.com/product/?cmpid=topnav

Select just what machine you have and model number.

Then you should be able to download the driver.
It maybe needs to be unziped before installation.

Good luck

Don't know how to get sound to work after reformatting

Hi kra02,
In order to get your sound to work again you will need to download and install your audio driver on the machine again.
You mentioned that you have a Compaq, you can go online to the Compaq website to get your Audio driver and probably the other drivers for your machine since you reformatted then you need to install all drivers needed for your Compaq.
Check in device manager under control panel to see which drivers needs to be installed, then you can download from the Compaq site to have your machine running fine again.
Drivers that you probably will need to download is the Chipset Driver, Video Driver, Audio Driver, LAN or Ethernet Driver, these are drivers that are most important.
I hope this help.
Have a nice day,

It is either that the device is bad or the driver not instal, first get the driver re-install. if this doest not solve the problem get a new sound Card

Sound is not coming

This is the audio driver for your unit. Some machines require that the Microsoft UAA driver be installed first so it wouldn't hurt to download both.

Post your results here.

I can not find the audio driver for cq40-144tu

You didn't mention the OS but follow this link to see the full list of XP drivers for your machine (your audio driver is right at the top).

Be sure to pay close attention to the instructions for the audio driver install, your machine requires the uua install prior to installing the idt audio driver itself.

No audio device ....on my xp C-media ac97 audio device. This device can not start( code 10) What I need to do get back my sound.

It usually means that you don't have exact driver installed. But sometimes it's a problem with a Plug&Play Enumerator. I solved this problem several times. First try to install exact driver for your device from cd or website of your motherboard. If after installation of a new driver you have the same issue you may try this:
1. Chek if PnP SW Enumerator is installed on your machine (Device Manager / System devices) - should be listed there!
2. If it is not there then we will probably solve it!
3. Locate "machine.inf" on your OS, copy it somewhere and modify it (find "ExcludeFromSelect=*" and remove the line or simply exclude it from processing by adding a ";" at the beginning)
4. Check the "machine.inf" file for location where SWENUM should be located (mine was reading: SWENUM.CoInstallers.CopyFiles = 11 ; %windir%\System32)
5. Find "swenum.sys" file on your XP installation CD (mine was in DRIVER.CAB) and copy it to the proper location (I am not sure if it is necessary but worked for me)
6. Go to Control Panel /Ad HW and follow the wizard towards manual selection of device to be added
7. Select Add System device
8. Select Have disk
9. Navigate to changed machine.inf
10. from the list select standard devices (in the left list) and "Plug and Play Software Enumerator" in the right list
11. Finish the installation
If it stil does not work reinstall the audio adapters' drivers. It should work now.
And also if you have any Linux liveCd you can boot from it . Linux loads it's sound drivers and after when you boot Windows it usually solves your sound problem ( I resolved this with Mandriva One Live CD).
Good luck!

Bad directsound driver :Error 88780078

You could have the wrong audio driver either due to OS version or hardware or a hardware issue.

To research the issue would require knowledge of the operating system installed on the target machine and the manufacturer of the computer if the audio is built-in or the add-in audio card if the computer was upgraded.
