Right button doesn't work; single click with left button

Right, this is my issue:

i spilled tea on my LogiTech MX 1000 optical cordless mouse a few weeks ago.

this morning the right button was not working. then, in either outlook or in any window i open, one click with the left mouse brings up the options menu for the right button, unless i click on the close, minimise or reply options.

can i do the cleaning / repair myself?

PLEASE HELP!!

You can probably repair this yourself if you are technically inclined and careful.

There is a tutorial here showing how to disassemble the mouse: http://www.vk2k.com/Logitech-MX1000-Battery/

The microswitches for the buttons can be opened if you are very careful, and then you'll have to clean the contacts. Regular rubbing alcohol should work fine. Be careful not to lose any parts when opening the switch.

If the switch contacts have corroded, you may have to replace the contacts or the entire switch. You may be able to take a similar switch from another mouse (many manufacturers use similar switches). SWometimes there are MX1000 or similar logitech nonfunctioning mice being sold on eBay for parts.

Good luck

Loss of control over my mouse.

Hi Arsenal,

My Logitech cordless occasionally does the same thing. On mine it was caused by a build up of gunk over the optical sensor. Once I cleaned it, it functioned normally.

I know it doesn't make sense as far as the buttons. I'm just sharing what worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Best regards
Mike

How can I clean a Logitech MX 1000 Bluetooth?

The Logitech MX 1000 is a laser mouse that connects to your home computer. It is called a laser mouse, it uses an optical beam instead of a rubber ball navigation. Over time, the area around the package is dusty or dirty and affect the functionality of a mouse. If this is the case with the mouse, a quick cleaning to start working perfectly in no time.

1. Disconnect the mouse cable from the USB port of your computer and turn the mouse upside down. Note the lens optical beam in the middle of the bottom of the mouse.

2. Bang on the bottom of the mouse to get rid of dust and dirt that have accumulated near the lens optical beam over time.

3. Use microfiber cloth (a different substance can damage the lens) and clean the bottom surface of the mouse as well.

4. Let your nails along the sides of the rubber feet on the bottom of the mouse all the dirt that accumulated in the crevices to remove.
Logitech MX Revolution Left Click Button Broken

I have a Logitech Revolution MX 5500 Bluetooth mouse (part of the Logitech MX 550 desktop set.)

In my case, uninstalling SetPoint and re-installing solved this exact problem.
