I hit "contrl, alt, delete"

For that you need to start computer in safe mode. For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode. Remove temp files from computer. Press windows key + R then you can see type in run "%tmp%" without "" then press enter then remove all temp files.Type in run "prefetch" without "' then press enter remove all prefetch files. Type in run "chkdsk /r" then press enter then press "y" then restart computer then it fix errors on harddrive. Then you can use it again. If still same then you need to create new user account .from start menu->control panel. You can create it on safe mode too with default administrator account. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

My desktop icons are not visible but i can browse....

That means your explorer has some issues..Normally in order to get out of this situation, you have to restart your computer and hope that whatever cramped up your OS is now gone. Your icons can be missing from your desktop for two reasons, either something has gone wrong with the explorer.exe process, which handles the desktop, or the icons are simply hidden. If restar doesn't work, right-click on the desktop and choose Arrange Icons By. Next check the Show Desktop Icons item.

Cannot maintain wallpaper.

1. change your theme to windows classic and then setup your favorite wallpaper.
2. if this fails create a new user account and see if you have the same problem in it too. If no, you can use the new user account and delete the one which you are using currently.

AVG will no install error 0x800736b1 also retrirve my desktop

Hi there. My name is Alex and Im here to help solve your problem

First of all, AVG has always had a problem installing when windows updates are enabled and download and install automatically. I would recommend uninstalling all updates that have been installed to your computer and disable automatic updates which I will explain to you below

To uninstall the updates.
Click start, settings and click control panel.
On the icon add and remove programs, please double click
You will now see all the programs and updates installed on your computer. The microsoft updates are located near to the bottom of the list and there may be a lot of them installed. You can only uninstall one update at a time. You may be prompted that uninstalling a windows update may cause a program not to work properly, this is normal so you can continue uninstalling them. When you have uninstalled these updates please restart your computer.

To disable the automatic updates

Right click on your icon My computer or My pc which is located on the desktop or on the start menu (if you are running windows xp) and select properties
You will then see a sub menu called 'Automatic updates' and inside this menu you will have the choice to disable the updates

If you are using windows xp and you have system restore enabled on your computer, then you will be able to take the computer back to an earlier time when it was working correctly. Please save all documents first to insure that nothing will be lost if you decide to do a 'system restore'. There is a very friendly wizard to help you restore your computer. You can get to the system restore by clicking start, programs, accesories, system tools and selecting system restore.

Regarding your problem about your desktop disappearing, to restore your icons on the desktop, right click anywhere on the desktop and select organise icons and be sure that the heading 'show desktop icons' is ticked. This will restore your desktop items

Last of all try installing AVG, if you still experience problems with this issue, then please let me know. Im happy to help

Desktop is blank

Shut your off. Wait 30 seconds. Boot the computer up into safe mode by pressing f8 before the Windows screen appears. Select Safe Mode and press enter. Once the desktop appears, restart your computer the normal way.

If it continues you should reinstall your operating system to fix the problem.
