Thank you for your response, I have already changed the battery as i suspected that to be the issue originally. The flash still powers up, the light comes on and it squeals like a lightly salted slug but won't fire off, even if i turn it off and then on, the charge remains but does not flash.

already tried changing batteries, flash is charging fine but not firing. had a look at the mechanism which seems to be connecting fine but was unable to get into flash housing. MORE HELP NEEDED. thanks

i do get the high pitch tone and the 'ready' light always comes on - i checked the shutter contacts in the front and they seem to be in working order

  • james_e_sadl Mar 20, 2009

batteries duly changed, ready light and noise still happening as if fine but no reliable flash.

i presume i need to get into the flash 'housing', any ideas on how to get in there? it's pretty secure

my apologies for appearing to ignore some of the solutions, it appears i was having problems viewing the page properly.

To Ginko: is a blown capacitor likely to be the case even though the flash fires occassionally?

    thanks

One of the capacitors on flash power board (starter ) had blown and must be replaced.

This is an easy repair that can be done at any local repair shop.

If the camera is under warranty, call the retailer, or the number listed on owner documentation.

This has nothing to do with the shutter contacts, it is a defective flash assembly, and must be replaced or repaired replacing the faulty component.

Seems capacitors are weak in flash unit, specially high voltage storage cap.
Please check do you hear high pitch sound during charging of volts in flash.

How many winding clicks should i use for a holga using 35mm ?ive heard 36-24 ?which is one is correct?

Same as you use for 120mm, since the size of the image projected by the camera doesn't change by using thinner film. If you wind it less, your frames will overlap quite a bit.

In my holga 120 cfn the flash doesn't go off when i press the shutter. the batteries seem fine and the orange light turns on, but when i press the shutter nothing happens. a couple of times it has worked,...

The flash would fire as per the requirement, in auto mode.

If the ambient light is enough then the flash will not fire.

In case you need to use the flash in bright conditions (e.g. For using as a fill flash) please repeatedly press the flash button (The one with the lightning symbol on it) till you get a lightning bolt symbol on the camera display.

Now your flash will fire on every shot that you click!

Please ensure that you revert back to the Auto mode once done.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will look forward to your feedback and positive rating.

You have to make sure your Firefox is closed first, otherwise it won't work or installed. Install the Flash Player. And then only start your Firefox.

Film problem for my holga

Black film as in underexpose, after you have them printed?

If you open a roll of 120 film:
Remove the little tape holding to the film.
Place film onto Film Spool Studs.
Pull film out from film leader and thread to Take Spool.
Turn until Arrow Line on film aligns with Start Mark of Film Holder.
Close film cover or back.
Advance camera to Zero (0). Now you are ready to shoot.
Just rememer what film speed your are using.

Hope they are helpful.

Any idea where to download the DI-LB604 firmware ver 1.01 ?

The following site has a 1.02 beta version of the firmware:

http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DI-LB604/Firmware/

However, it also has the flash utility.....you could most likely save the firmware from your 1.01 router then use the flash utility on that site to flash the firmware you just saved to your 1.00 router :c)

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Broken flash

okay my holga flash was broken too....the batteries were working just fine cus when i turned it on, the little back light came on and the whining sound happened, but then click...no flash! so i took the back off and made a small repair and it worked!

so this is how to fix it (if its the same problem...i.e. everything electrical is working but the actual flash):

use a small screwdriver to remove the two small screws inside the camera (take out the frame and they are on the bottom and top). the front will pop off and you should be able to see the wiring.

ebbee78.jpg

where i circled in red was the problem. that curved metal piece at the bottom was too straight and was not making contact with the shutter (the top little metal prod sticking outta the circle) when i clicked it. so just bend it forward to how it looks in the picture...then do a practice click to make sure it makes contact. you can even try it with the batteries in, but be careful!! its electricity!

hope this helps!!
