When i plug in the charger, the charging light illuminates, but when i press the power on button, nothing happens! The power button presses like it should, and is not blocked, loose or broke! My laptop keeps saying hibernating and i cannot get to menu screen.

Definition: Hibernate is another option for powering down your laptop. When you use Hibernate all data will be saved to the hard drive in a compressed form. Once you start up from Hibernate mode you will be able to work with the applications and documents you left open before putting the laptop into Hibernate.
Hibernate is best used to conserve laptop battery power when you will be away from the laptop for more than a few minutes. You can put your laptop into Hibernate overnight or when you will be away from it for a few hours. Examples: Rather than shutting down my laptop each night, I use Hibernate to help conserve battery power and enable me to access my open files quicker in the morning.

If you are not going to use your computer for a few hours, it is a good idea to put it to sleep (also known as mode) to save power. If you are not going to use the computer for more than a day, it is usually best to turn it off.

hope it helps.... please rate if you like my post...thanks

The DVD Drive on my philips freevents 12NB5800 isn't working. The problem is that the draw opens but the laptop isn't recognising the disc. I had tried going onto my computer and double clicking on the dvd...

Either your CD/DVD drive is dirty & needs to be cleaned, or the drive has gone bad & needs to be replaced.
First, try to take the drive off the laptop. Open the drive & blow compressed air into it (from a can of compressed air) to clean it. You could also clean the lens (the small round glassy object inside the drive) using lens cleaning tissues & lens cleaning fluid.
If this did not fix the problem, you will need to replace the CD/DVD drive with a working one, or use an external CD/DVD drive

You can buy a external 2.5inch HDD enclosure which will allow you to remove your HDD from your current laptop put it in the enclosure and hook it up to another computer via usb allowing you to copy the files of the old HDD.
There are also multi purpose devices that allow your to hook up either IDE or SATA drives of 2.5" or 3.5" drives via USB an example of this device is at link.
