I have Zotac nvidia 8400GS 1GB DDR3 Graphic card i installed Directx 10 in my Computer (windowsXP-32-bit) but it shows pixel shader 3.0 and vertex shader 3.0 version Instead of 4.0 version Why it's...

Hi rajivqupta19,
DirectX 10 won't be compatible with earlier DirectX versions, and it won't be released for Windows XP. For backward compatibility with current games and hardware, Microsoft plans to include DirectX 9L in Windows Vista.
You can have a DX10 card in XP but you won't be able to use any of the DX10 features and optimization.
DX10 Windows Vista Exclusive according to the link below.
Additional Info Link
Shader 4.0 is for Windows Vista.

Hopefully this information helps.
Thank you for Using FixYa.
