The w key on my sony vaio laptop isn't working hen you press it, but w's constantly come out as if it is being held down

The keyboard is probably faulty and this is not generally a repairable item. Did you spill any liquid on it? If so, giving it a clean might help. Remove the keyboard from the laptop to make it easier and avoid possible damage to the laptop. Make sure the power is disconnected and the battery is removed before removing the keyboard.
If cleaning does not work then you will have to replace the keyboard.

Fn key

The "fn" key is used like a shift key to alternate between multiple symbols of the same key. The symbols on the key that the "fn" enables why being held down are usually surround closely by a box. Hope this helps.

Keyboard Problem

Holding down the right-side SHIFT key has activated the "Sticky Keys" feature in Windows -- designed for physically-handicapped people who cannot press more than one key at a time.

Access CONTROL PANEL and disable this "Accessibility Option".

Keyboard

Do you have a function key on your keyboard as this may have been pressed and therefore accessing shortcuts on your keyboard. The function key normally looks like this

Fn

Not sure but this may be your issue. Some function keys need to be held down and others will go on when pressed and stay on until they are pressed again.

Let me know if this helped
