Disconnect the main power and unplug the battery. Press the power button for 5 seconds. Then again turn on the notebook by connecting the battery

I had the same problem but here is the fix - I contacted Acer support and they steered me to this solution you need a BIOS update. Follow the directions on this page and it will work. It says it may take 1-7 minutes, mine was up and running in just 2. You will need a flashdrive though.
