To format Cellular Phone Steps are shown below
You can remove the mmc but keep the sim card and restart your phone.
Then press the keys *#7370#.
The phone would ask a confirmation.
Then it will ask for a code.
Type the phone lock code (the default code is 12345).
There you are! your phone will restart with all the phone memory formatted.
Also remember that you can reset your phone but not loose any of
your personal files (I.E restore the settings that came when you bought
the phone while keeping contacts etc) by following the above procedure
but using the code *#7780#
Don't apply these steps if you are not sure what you are doing.
Make sure you have enough battery power before beginning this procedure.
Formatting will erase all your contacts/messages, so make a backup of your phone before formatting.

it is a error occured due to the attack of virus or by external shock
so pls change the software from nokia care
dont use the viruse affected memory cards & don't recive viruse affected datas from other phone
If it is affected to your phone software ,then the only way is to re-program the phone with from the nokia customer care centre. If the virus is affected to your memory card then its better to formet it and re-insert it.
Hi, did you ever did update? Use Nokia PC Suite. I'm sure there is update for N72. You can check your fware version typing *#0000#. Then go to Nokia website and check if there is an update. You'll need product code which can be found under battery on white sticker. Rate me if it helped. Thanks.
*#7780# is "revert to factory defaults". Nothing is formatted, only your
settings are reset.
*#7370# is a soft reset - a reset initiated by
In order to hard reset you do the following.
1) With the
phone switched off, press and hold the green "call", "3" and "*" buttons. 2)
With those buttons pressed down, switch the phone on. 3) Keep pressing those
3 buttons and only release them once the phone shows signs of life such as the
Nokia "hands" logo or the language selection screen.
There could well be
a fault with your N72. At this point there isn't much you can do and the battery
will run out eventually anyway. I suggest you simply remove the battery and the
memory card if one is inserted. Wait for 5-10 minutes and then put the battery
back in and do a hard reset as described above.
