Lexmark has not revised any of their printers to work on the Vista program as of yet. There are some companies who are enjoying the selling downloadable disc on the web for abot $20 so your printer will work with Vista. You can GOOGLE this information by typying in the model & name of your Lexmark on any Google search engine to see what I mean
Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/cgn74X. Download and install the software.
