I would think you need to reinstall the firmware. That or maybe your zune doesnt work with that drive.

For internal hard-drive:
There's a possibility that the hard drive is cooked. Try running a hard-drive self test by accessing the BIOS screen of your laptop. If the test fails, the your hard-drive is already broken.
Try re-seating your hard-drive. Take it out then put it back in again. If it doesn't work, the hard-drive is broken. If you have a similar drive available, try replacing the drive that displays the error. If the extra drive works without any problems, the old drive is broken.
Consult a local technician. They should be able to assist you in resolving problems like this. They might also be able to help you retrieve important data from the broken drive.
You can also call your computer's manufacturer for troubleshooting or replacements.
For external drives.
Fixes:
1. Plug the hard-drive into another port. 2. Plug the hard-drive to another computer. If you get the same error, the drive is no longer usable.

You would probably encounter less problems just replacing your iPod's HD with a new one.

RapidRepair sells them for $110 for an 80g, and their instructions are pretty good.

And here's the Toshiba version of the Zune drive-

It looks like they might actually be interchangable, but in my experience 1st Gen Zunes have a lot of problems, especially with the batteries and HD's.

Good evening wish you. I use the MK3008GAL HDD in Acer Aspire One 110Aw netbook (original was 8GB SSD). The system appears to be Secondary Master. Why? Can be set as Primary Master? Infrequently heard...

Most motherboards have two "channels", namely PRIMARY and SECONDARY.
Each channel can support two devices, namely MASTER and SLAVE.

So, the "data" cable from your disk-drive is connected to the SECONDARY channel,
and is the MASTER (or maybe "only") device on that channel.

Connecting it to the PRIMARY channel will *NOT* increase the performance of your computer; don't waste your time trying to change it.

Yes, Toshiba disk-drives do "click". However, given that you *DO* have "bad" sectors, you need to replace the disk-drive before it *COMPLETELY* dies, causing the loss of all your files!

I recently bought a Toshiba Satalite laptop to replace the one I dropped which was also a Toshiba Satalite. I had taken out the old hard drive and installed it in the new one but now it wont do anything...

Yes it does matter. XP was configured for the old Toshiba and this will only work if both Toshiba laptops are exactly the same model.
To get your new Toshiba operating, put the new hard drive with the Vista operating system back in the Toshiba laptop.
To transfer your data from the old hard drive, purchase a USB adapter hard drive case and place the old hard drive inside this case. This will then be an external USB hard drive.
Plug this USB hard drive into the new Toshiba's USB port and it will detect it as an external storage/hard drive. You can then open the various folders and files and copy the data files to your new Toshiba.
To free up disk space on this USB hard drive, delete the Windows folder, Program Files folder and other folders that are no longer needed.
Use this hard drive as a backup hard drive etc.
