Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer
At first it was only flashing F11 every 10 or 12 loads. Now it is doing it almost every load. You can get it restarted by waitin several minutes and starting it. The last 4 loads it gets to 1 minute left and it starts flashing FdL and you can't get it out of the cycle nor will it unlock the door to get the laundry out. I had to leave unplugged for 10 minutes and start it over and than hit cancel to get the door unlocked.
From Catriver/fixya, this site.
F11 is a serial communication error. Communication between the central control unit and the motor control unit cannot be sent correctly. Possible solutions: Check the harness between the two boards for loose connection. Driver motor, main board or motor control board may be bad. I have come across a number of these with loose connections and bad main boards. Put it into a test by pressing drain/spin on the left side. Then press the spin speed button on the right until no spin is lit. Then press the pre-wash button on the right 4 times until 00 comes up in the display. You are now in the automatic test mode. Let it do it's thing about 15 minutes and see if the error comes again.
The dl means doorlock. (F=fault) These machines are notorious for bad solder joints in the main control board in the door lock circuit. You could have a bad door latch but I doubt it. You can keep trying to start it and sometimes it will work and sometimes not. Remove the top of the washer. It is held on by three screws at the rear of the top. Slide back and lift up.
You will see the control at the top rear of machine. There are two connectors that plug to the board with pink wires. The board will be marked dl1 and dl2 where they plug in. Wiggle these connectors and try the machine again.
If your machine is less then 2 years old the board may still be covered by warranty. Check your owners manual for details.
