Possibly water in the air tank ? Or Ice covering the inlet or screen into the tank? DOes it have a belt? or direct drive? Remove the belt and try to turn by hand. See if its the motor or the compressor is tight. If it rolls free possible a chack valve is hung up or has a broken spring OR yuo have a bad capicator or centrifical sw going to the start capicator. Check amp draw with no pressure on the compressor. tank open. If it runs extra time its somethign while under load. If it still cuts out you need to sepperate and discover if its a mechanical or electrical problem.

OH I see another possibility. You ahave lost one of your stages. U say its 3 stage and turns faster than normal... the stages aer where the air leaves i area and enters the next and is compressed futher then the 2nd area and is compressed to the 3rd. One of the stages (I suspect a gasket or valve or a spring operating one stage or 2 is open. Suspecting the 2nd stage as it could allow a faster speed at startup then as the unit continues to run too long from not reaching the cut off pressure it ober loads. IF THIS HELPS PLEASE GRADE ME ACCORDINGLY and good luck.

What does alarm start fault mean on the control panel on a ingersoll rand ssr ep-30 air compressor

I use to start up a 25 HP Ingersol screw type compressor. The only alarms I got were from power spikes which just needed the reset button to be pushed, then the on button - and the low oil sensor would shut it down and give an alarm when the tank was about half way down. They will blow up with no oil so there is a saftey margin on oil level.

I have a qrs-4000 compressor that trips the motor overload only once every morning at first start-up. then it never does it again until the next day.

I recommend you check the running amps at start up in the morning. Hopefully you will find the amps are over the overload rating. Check the amps again later in the day.Hopefully they will be below the overload rating. If this is the case you will need to go up on the amperage slightly to prevent the morning trip. Also make sure all incoming wiring are tight. Everything in the morning is cooler, not lubricated, cold oil etc. After warm up the motor doesn't have to work as hard and pulls less amps. Are you using a synthetic oil? If not synthetic oil along may be the answer to your problem.

2nd stage high pressure alarm is coming and the compressor is tripping. can you pl suggest

I will need more info on this. What is the model of compressor. Is it oil free or a 2 stage oil flooded. From the info provided it sounds like an oil free unit. These units have alarms for 1st and 2nd stages. Suggest inspecting the discharge check valve with out more info.

The motor starter overload auxiliary contact is wired into the intellisys control unit. If the motor would overload, then the thermal overloads in the motor starter will trip. When this occurs you will get that message. The overloads are in the electric panel on the left side. You will have to remove the screws to gain access. Be sure to have disconnect off when removing cover. There is a reset button on the motor starter you can press to reset. Now the question is why did it trip? There are a few common possibilities. On is dirt in the coil not allowing enough air to pass over the motor. Slipping belt generating too much heat. Old or low oil causing high temperatures. Pressure setting set higher than unit is designed. You can set pressure on the intellisys. Another reason is short cycling. If you have this set for start stop operation by pressure, the minimum run time should be at least 10 min, and I believe mfg recommends even longer. If it starts and stops too frequently, the motor will overheat.I hope this helps. (I maintain a very similar unit where I work) These units are usually very trouble free units if you keep the oil, oil filter, air filter, and separator changed as recommended.
