Chances are you have a bad laser in your xbox's dvd reader. If it is still under warranty you should contact Microsoft and see if they will replace it for you. Otherwise you will need to either do it yourself (which I do not suggest unless you are very sure of your skills) or find someone who will replace the dvd drive or laser for you. WARNING: Doing this yourself or paying someone other than Microsoft to replace it will void your warranty.
I believe the towel thing is a temporary solution. Check your av cable and try using different cable to check if its a cable issue or the console. because if its the console it might be the port at the back. Please contact support line.
You will need to have your Disc drive fixed. If you have a warranty send it to Microsoft. If you don't there are plenty of people that can fix it or replace it. I am one of those people. You can contact me if you would like me to help you, or help you find someone else who can.
2 Lights flashing means that the system is overheating. If it is getting proper ventilation, then it is a hardware issue resulting from Microsoft's lackluster assembly. It would mean either the CPU, GPU, or RAM is not making good contact and building heat. If under warranty contact Microsoft, if not it's a rather simple fix that shouldn't cost much to have someone do a professional job.
i recommend you contact Microsoft support for assistance. The problem here is that the hacker responsible likely has somehow acquired user login information. I hope Microsoft can provide support for you since dealing with hackers in any respect is tricky business.
Try taking of the bottom part off if you can. Press the button to see if it is making contact. If it isn't you should be able to fix it. If it is making contact then you have to get someone electrical on that.
that happend to me2 but it not that bad all u gotta do is either make sure all of the cords r plugged in wright or take out the memory thingy and blow in the part that it goes into the xbox and put it bac in that usually works
Replacing the Power supply unit, PSU, is very simple. It is about 4 screws in the system. You can pick up a replacement on ebay for $10-20. Also, a new (used) xbox is usually around $30 on craigslist. Hope this helps.
