Hi, quite a common problem with the nx61xx models. the problem is a non contacting BGA chip (Ball Grid Array). they seem to heat up and the solder connections become dry and detatched from the board i had a nx that was the same (two infact). After extensive research of this problem i found 1 guy in the whole country who would attemp this repair but it is very expensive. (uneconomical).
I found two solutions the first is quite simply what you are doing , putting a wedge under the laptop, this bend the board slightly to make contact. the second solution involves opening up the laptop and placing a rubber wedge on the offending BGA chip. the chip is actually located just under and to the right of the mouse pad.
if you are to attempt dismantling do let me know if you need any guidance.
